BEWARE OF DR. SPENCER COCHRAN!

I left a glowing review 9 days after my primary rhinoplasty with Dr. Cochran. If only I could've anticipated how much would change in the three years afterward.
Year 1: Looked fine
Year 2: Tip becoming sharper than I wanted, but still fine
Year 3: Extremely sharp pinched tip, horrible indentation and collapsed appearance....
This is horrible. I'm in distress about this...I really need a revision rhinoplasty expert. I've heard that Cochran may offer a revision for free, but honestly, going under his knife a second time sounds like madness to me.
This is so bad. I thought I did my research in picking Cochran, but still this horrible result.
After more research I am going to go with Dr. Rod J. Rohrich for my revision. I'm going to schedule my consultation with him soon. I'll update. Please wish me luck....
And everyone, please think very carefully about undergoing major plastic surgery like rhinoplasty! I now realize how risky, how complicated it truly is! If you feel you can live with your current nose, you may just want to keep it.

My nose was never wide, but the tip was bulbous. I have wanted to refine the tip to be more attractive since I was sixteen years old. I was encouraged to wait until I was fully grown, which I did.
A plastic surgeon and friend of the family told me the Gunter Center (where Dr. Cochran operates) is the second-best rhinoplasty center in Dallas. I also did web research and was impressed by Dr. Cochran's before and after images. (I also scheduled a consultation with the purported best nose surgeon in Dallas, Dr. Rohrich, but I cancelled because I wanted to take a trip on that date).
Dr. Cochran was the only plastic surgeon (of the three I consulted with) who understood the look I wanted to achieve. He is very kind, respectful and professional in person. (I would point out that the other surgeons I consulted with were highly recommended and board-certified as well; they just didn't understand my aesthetic the way Dr. Cochran did.)
My operation (one week ago) went smoothly and my bandages came off yesterday. So far, I am convinced that no surgeon could have given me a better result. No one would ever be able to tell I've had a nose job, yet it is profoundly better than before. Once the swelling goes away completely I will update this review but I am already very, very impressed. I am so glad that I made this purchase. I believe Dr. Cochran is one of the most skilled out there.

So glad that everything went so well for you! Thanks for sharing and I have to ask....if you would consider sharing some before and after photos with us. You can block out your eyes or other parts of face but it really helps us see Dr. Cochran's skill and what you've experienced. I always read how nice Dr. Cochran is. Very happy for you!

Thank you for sharing here on RealSelf! What was it that you didn't like about your nose that you wanted improved?

Hi, I have an initial consultation with dr Cochran next month and wanted to see if you were still happy with your nose?

As for his surgical strategy, he told me he'd use a cartilage graft to augment my dorsum--since it's currently caved in. Also, he's going to take out my current tip (placed by Cochran) and make a new one for me--a softer, rounder and bigger one. Also he's going to shave down some asymmetrical bone I've got on my bridge (not Cochran's fault, I was born with that.)
Just FYI--Rohrich uses cartilage grafts from the MTF cadaver bank. My dad's a surgeon and he told me this was very safe and widely accepted--but just be aware, Rohrich won't be taking cartilage out of your rib. That's what I thought he'd do. I was wrong. In fact I asked them if I could insist on using my own rib--they told me it'd be thousands more dollars in surgical costs. Urk. Guess we're going with cadaver. Just be aware!
Rohrich seemed confident. What can I say? I really need a new nose, and so I decided to trust him. So I've scheduled surgery with him very very soon--June 16th, 2017.
What did I think of Dr. Rohrich? I liked him, he felt trustworthy, but of course so did Dr. Cochran. I don't put too much stock in bedside manner anymore! I'm literally trusting Dr. Rohrich's reputation. Not just all the internet reviews and magazine rankings--an ENT who's a friend of my family told me long ago that Rohrich is the best in Dallas. So...here we go again! I sure hope I'm not being rash.
Ooh--one more thing. One good thing about Rohrich was that he understood exactly what I was trying to say about aesthetics, my nose's shape, etc. There was no confusion between us. Big relief. I just hope that it translates to surgery. However--this is the second go-round and I'm not terribly picky this time. I just want a stable normal-looking pretty nose!
One last last thing! Rohrich doesn't 'draw' or 'create' the photo renderings of your new nose himself. His photographer does that and emails the pics to you later. But you know, I don't put too much stock in the photo renderings anymore. They're just photoshop pics.
Hope this gives you some perspective if you're debating whether or not to schedule with Rohrich! Best of luck!
