I am four weeks post op from my Mommy Makeover...

I am four weeks post op from my Mommy Makeover including Breast Augmentation with silicone implants, Tummy Tuck with MR and Liposuction of the flank area to get rid of excess skin, stretch marks and contour my waist. I love my results so far! My plastic surgeon, Dr. Frederick Lester, is simply the best! I cannot say enough about him and his staff! Over all, my recovery has been quick and uneventful, which I, of course, credit to the skill of my surgeon. I still have swelling in my stomach and flanks but I figure if I am pleased now, I can't imagine how excited I will be once the final results set in. I have no bruising and my scars look great! I was up and moving around within a week. I spent the first night in the surgery center. I highly recommend this after having a tummy tuck. I was initially on the fence but after coming out of surgery, I was so glad I stayed. Once home, I pretty much slept the next 3 days in a recliner, waking long enough to take my pain medicine and walk around every two hours. (My husband had to help me up and out of the recliner for the first 2 days.) I took Tylenol with Codeine and Valium and Arnica for bruising and swelling. The nurses told me the key to a less painful recovery for Tummy Tuck patients is taking Valium every eight hours to help relax your muscles the first few days after surgery. I didn't have much of an appetite at all, so I pretty much had lemon ice bars and unsalted crackers to settle my stomach. After one week, I was feeling much better. I really didn't need pain pills anymore and was able to move around more quickly, although if I did too much, I got winded easily. With each passing week, I am feeling more like myself. I have to remind myself that I had major surgery and still need to take it easy. I was just released to begin walking and do more routine household activities. I still have to watch what I do such as lifting, bending and twisting. It's easy to forget that most activities and chores engage your abdominal muscles to some degree. I can't utilize weights yet, no sit ups, crunches or planks and have to watch my heart rate. I can ease myself into these things beginning week 8 through week 12. I still watch my sodium intake, avoid alcohol and avoid being outside in the heat for too long. I am applying Bio Oil to my scars in addition to sunscreen.

My results this far are well worth the expense of the procedure and recovery process. If you live in the Dallas area, I highly recommend using my surgeon. I had a few consultations with other Board Certified doctors as well but just didn't feel comfortable with them. I knew Dr. Lester was the one immediately upon meeting him!

I am four weeks post op of my Mommy Makeover including Breast Augmentation with silicone implants, Tummy Tuck with MR and Liposuction of the flanks. I love my results so far and can't wait to see the final result! I found Dr. Lester here on Real Self. I decided to schedule a consultation based upon his credentials, experience, reviews and before and after photos on both his website and Real Self. From our very first conversation, his staff has been welcoming and accommodating. In fact, as I got closer to surgery, I pretty much called or emailed every day and B was always polite, helpful and professional. As soon as I met Dr. Lester, I was immediately comfortable and at ease. He is laid back, personable and has a great sense of humor. He is very knowledgable and told me what I could realistically expect as result of each procedure. He listened to what I wanted and didn't try to push me into other procedures or larger implants. He sat and went through photos with me to get an idea of what I was looking for regarding my breast size. I booked my surgery that day! I immediately knew he was the right doctor for me. Going forward with a surgery of this magnitude is a huge, life altering decision. It was important to me that I connected with my surgeon, in addition to the fact that he was Board Certified in Plastic Surgery and was also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. The day of surgery, surprisingly, I wasn't nervous at all. I felt so comfortable and at peace with my decision and Dr. Lester. I wanted this for so long! Anyway, the surgery center staff were simply fabulous! As was the anesthesiologist. They were all kind and caring ensuring I was comfortable every step of the way. I spent the night at the surgery center. I had gone back and forth on this decision because I thought I would feel more comfortable at home but I can honestly say that staying overnight was the best decision outside of choosing Dr. Lester. The nurses were beyond attentive. They kept my pain at a minimum. I had a nurse and a nurse aide. They came in together and made certain I was comfortable and that everything was fine. I had an IV and catheter which I feel helped in my healing process as I didn't have to get up to use the restroom which allowed my wounds to settle. The next morning, they went over necessary instructions with my husband. I cannot speak highly enough of this staff. I really feel they went above and beyond for me. The recovery itself is better than I anticipated. Don't get me wrong, it's painful the first week but especially my first day home. My husband got me up every two hours and had me walk for a few minutes. I took pain pills every four hours and had Valium every eight hours. I really feel that my quick recovery is due to the skill of Dr. Lester. I still have swelling in my lower stomach and flanks which can be expected but it's nothing extreme. I had literally no bruising despite having flank liposuction. My scars look amazing including my belly button. My belly button doesn't give away the fact that I had a tummy tuck like others I have seen. Right now, I could easily wear a bikini in public and I am only a month out. I viewed many before and after pictures and sometimes am quite shocked by the bruising and scabbing. It looks so painful! That wasn't the case for me which again, of course, is due to the expert skill of Dr. Lester. The bottom line.... Dr. Lester has charm, charisma, an expert eye and surgical skills that are second to none! His staff is welcoming, patient and caring and have been there for me every step of the way! The surgical center he utilizes also employs a staff of caring individuals, which to me, speaks volumes about his ethics and beliefs! I cannot recommend him enough! If you are considering Plastic Surgery in the Dallas area, at the very least, schedule a consultation with him! You won't regret it!
