15 months after Breast Lift-glad I did it, but still painful scars and drooping a bit - Corona Del Mar, CA

I had older, under the muscle, implants from 1999 that were horrible! In 1999, I had a lift and implants because I was completely droopy after breast feeding and hated the way I looked. Unfortunately, the left implant always stayed high, giving me the 'double bubble' effect. They never looked good!
Finally, I got the money together to correct the problem. The first procedure was the implant removal in office with just numbing. This was tough due to the fact that my implants were placed very deep and high. It was somewhat painful but glad it was done! No more fake-looking boobs for me!! I healed well from that and almost could have stopped at that point. I wasn't as saggy as I feared!

The scars are healing pretty well and it is so wonderful to have perky size C breasts again! The bruising is almost completely gone, too! I have one area on the top of my left breast where there is a hard and painful lump. The left breast was also a little higher looking. Dr. Agha said I have an area around a suture of fat necrosis that he pushed and messaged quite firmly. It was rather painful but seemed to help it get a bit softer. He advised me to do this daily to myself to break up the hard tissue so my body can get rid of it. I am hoping it works. Overall I feel so much lighter and thinner. The scale does not say I have lost any lbs. but my clothes fit so nicely! Tomorrow I will brave taking some photos and brave posting them.

The scars look pretty good, but not totally happy with the bulges on the side under my arms, especially my left side. It almost looks like I have implants, but this is all my own breast tissue!

You look really good! He should remove those side bulges for you if they do not lay down. But you breasts look very nice! I am glad that you are happy with them!

Thanks! I posted 3 pics today: before implant removal, after implant removal but before lift, and today's 6 week post op. So even with the side bulges, you can see how much better I look than before! He said he may do a slight revision if the bulges stay. I go back in January. Keep you posted!

This was a dramatic change. Now I can appreciate the transformation even more. Your breasts are beautifully shaped now and quite deformed before. You must be thrilled! So let me ask you about implants because I am very torn. I have been through a ton of body contouring the last 7-mos. Among the procedures I had a breast lift. I went from a 38D/DD to a 36B. IF he could have gotten me to a C I would not consider implants. But B is just too small for my 5'7" 165lb body... so for the first time since I was 16yo I finally no longer feel big. So I am really wondering if going back to my D/DD will make me feel like a big girl again. On the other hand, D/DD is the epitome of the female breast. What I want to achieve is to look sexy... I do not want to look matronly (I am 49yo) and I do not want to look like a [RS bleep]. Please share your thoughts!! Thanks!!

I am also 5'7" and 158 lbs and 46 yrs old, so I understand your feelings, but personally I love being smaller and it really helps me feel thinner and more fit. I am looking forward to exercising again soon and getting back to weight training like I used to do before implants. Working out was so difficult with large breasts! I think large breasts are the "American" epitome of beauty simply because of all the implants and [RS bleep] stars! It may also just be the fad for now. Remember when big butts were something detested and now Brazilian butt lifts are the rage? We need to be happy with ourselves but not go to extremes to please others. It is your body to live in...remember, too, that implants need to be replaced eventually and also tend to head south. Btw, my hubby likes me better smaller! ;)

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, on the genesis of big boobs being desired by Americans. The big butts are owing to the Latino epitome of beauty... they desire to look like a cola bottle. My husband does not like big breasts, but I am doing all of this for me and no one else so it is about what I want for my body. I have noticed on these boards that women getting implants are desiring for the most part to go large, D, DD, and women getting breasts reductions are desiring to be smallish, B, C. I look closely at the reasons those women with D and DD want to be smaller and it certainly gives me pause. I certainly do like feeling thinner and more fit. Thanks again, you look fab!

Good for you!! I did my implants and first lift when I was a single mom and did it for me alone! I guess because they were bigger than I originally wanted (36DD) and then were never positioned right (one side never settled into the pocket and was too high) I just wasn't happy with the results. Because mine were under the muscle and not placed right, every time I used my pectoral muscles, the implant slipped way up toward my neck! I felt horrible! I stopped working out and gained weight. If you do go with implants, I highly recommend Dr. Agha's method of anchoring the breast tissue to your muscle so your skin is not all that is holding up the weight. Aging skin will stretch and implants hanging down just aren't very pretty in my opinion. I wish you lots of success in your transformation and please keep me posted! :D

I also wanted to add this to my comment: Dr. Agha's Dermal Bra Suspension technique also has a variation to use excess tissue from your back to add to the volume of your breast if you do not want implants. Check out his video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3O_l79MZSRI Also his website has diagrams explaining it: http://plasticsurgerybodycontouring.com/body-lift/breast-reshaping.html I believe the other Doctor who came up with this method with Dr. Agha is in Pittsburg, PA if that is closer to you. His explanation is here: http://www.hurwitzcenter.com/pdf/Breast-Reshaping.pdf Hope the info helps! :D

Thanks for that endorsement -- I already have it in my notes to speak with Dr. Capella about that.

That would be Dr. Peter Rubin. I am familiar with this procedure and it is very interesting. However, I have already had a breast lift and flankplasty so there is no back fat or torso fat left. I have had my entire body lifted, as well as thighs. All that is left is tweaks to my recent surgery, implants, and face. I am pretty sure I will not go large with the implants. I have a V shape and I think it will end up making me look and feel broad, large.

I agree with Susie. , big becomes matronly....... Had to go through same decision process..... My decision was to go for fat grafting rather than implants. Implants will mean, without a doubt, future revision/surgery. I know, had 2 sets for a total of 30 years......

Thanks for weighing in. In hindsight I would have loved to have researched the dermal suspension technique for the breast lift. I would much rather my own tissue have been used. I regret not looking at this more closely. I just did not know that there were other options. This board has been very educational. What do you mean by fat grafting? There is no fat left on me at this point as I have had my entire body lifted.

Looking really good and no implants!  You must be tickled pink.  I bet the side bulges will disappear soon.

Thanks, I am very happy!! Check out the before pics I just posted! What a difference! The side bulges are a little smaller and Dr. Agha said he may do a small revision down the road if they don't go away. I go back in January.
