Paradoxical Adipose Hyperplasia
I underwent a round of CoolSculpting on or about November 11, 2018. The treatment consisted of two large applicators that were applied vertically on my abdomen. Following the treatment, my abdomen was very sore to where it hurt if someone even touched my stomach. In the subsequent months, I noticed that my abdomen appeared larger than before, and that there was a line where the applicator had been placed. Despite maintaining the same weight, my abdomen appeared larger than it was before and the fat was dense and had a stick of butter like appearance that was only present where the applicator was applied. The provider confirmed that I had PAH, which is basically where your fat cells harden and expand!!!! Who pays to become fat!?! It looked awful! You can do a google image search to see what “paradoxical adipose hyperplasia” Looks like. The only way to fix this is to get liposuction, and typically you need more than one session of liposuction to resolve the issue. Additionaly, you have to wait 6-9 months after the coolsculpting to wait for the fat to finish expanding and soften before you undergo liposuction.
This has affected my emotional and physical health and well-being. The risks are not worth it. Based on my own research, it appears that this is a very common occurrence. I already personally know of three other people to whom this has happened. I reached out to coolsculpting to resolve this and have not heard back from them. Please save yourself the heartache and mental anguish and just get traditional lipo if you’d like to lose fat. If I can save one person from this nightmare, it’s worth the post.
