Undergoing Major Surgery being Insulin dependant
I know that I was looking for other women who were type1 Diabetics to see what their experience was with a Mommy Makeover.
I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes almost 6 months ago. This was a major change to everything I'd been doing for 35 years of my life. Shots, pokes and diet changes... I had a really hard time adjusting. Then I heard about the decreased healing and nerve issues associated with long term diabetes. I figured it's now or never.
I was really scared going into my surgery. I took my normal dose of insulin the night before and my blood sugar was tested once during my surgery. My blood sugar was a bit high after being released from recovery. I spent the night at the recovery center and was in a good deal of pain. I remember walking to the rest room being torturous. I took my narcotics all through the night and checked out in the morning. I couldn't get into my husband's truck until the nurse got a stool and it was still difficult. We made it home and off to my recliner I went and remained until my first appointment 3 days later. At this point I was hardly eating and so nauseous from the medication. Dr. Mariotti's assistant Kim removed my tape and cleaned my incision sites and belly button. Everything looked good and I was on my way home. I finally started eating and feeling so much better! I once again was using more insulin and I more than before, due to less activity and healing.

Recovering with 4 kids
My husband stayed home for a full week to care for our 4 kids. I only got up out of my recliner to use the restroom for the first week. The second week my parents took the kids to school and MIL picked up. My parents also kept my almost 2 year old. I think the hardest part was not being able to be a Mommy for 2 weeks. My kids were worried and I was in pain, couldn't cuddle or go to my regular little league games. It was so... worth it though and we are now back to cuddles and gentle loves.
My procedure
I had a full tummy tuck, breast lift and augmentation with 425cc on May 4th, 2015. I will snap a picture of my 2 week after shot tomorrow.
