First of all I think it is fair to share that I am in the aesthetic medicine profession. I work with doctors all over the country. Therefore, I am also more familiar with technology than the "average bear". I am 61 years old, I practice good skincare and I have periodic PhotoFacials (BBL) that I love and should quite frankly do more often. Since Sciton introduced the hybrid technology called Halo I have been interested in this procedure since the downtime is less than a more aggressive resurfacing laser procedure. I have had the priviledge of knowing and working with Dr. Mudd and appreciate her knowledge of the physics of lasers for skin rejuvenation. I decided that she should be the physician I would have this procedure performed by. Before my procedure (which I flew into Ohio for Dr. Mudd to perform) Dr. Mudd put me on an anti-viral (I happen to have a history of Herpes Simplex lip ulcers) and she gave me a script for something to take the day before to control any swelling. The day before my procedure Dr. Mudd showed me my skin age and all the ramifications that align with this on her Visia. She took before pics. On the day of the procedure, Jane, Dr. Mudd's nurse put a topical numbing solution on my face and neck. I chose to have both face and neck. Once the procedure began I was pretty much numb, Dr. Mudd talked me through the entire procedure, advising me of how much time was left for each quadrant of my face and neck. It was all manageable from a pain standpoint because of the numbing and Dr. Mudd's coaching me through the procedure. Once the actual procedure ended, Nurse Jane began to continually put ice packs on my face. I must note here that I had a deep Halo, not a more superficial procedure. Those first two hours were the most painful, but the minute I started to feel the heat, nurse Jane applied another cold pack. After the procedure I had swelling, pinpoint bleeding and some coffee grounds from sun damage. I was not in pain after the first two hours and the pain was manageable, particularly with the cold compresses Jane applied. I did have swelling for a couple days. I arrived home four days post-treatment, no worse for the travel. I peeled, but Dr. Mudd gave me a post-cleansing routine with product, cleansing pads that are better than a wash cloth and products to sooth and hydrate my skin. I ended up calling the practice and ordering more of these products for my home care. The end result after three weeks. Everyone who sees me in my office and my friends repeatedly say, "your skin looks amazing" some have no idea what I did. My skin is clear, much tighter and I can't wait to see the long term effects from the treatment. Kudos to Dr. Mary Beth Mudd and Sciton for their amazing technology with Halo!!!
