I had Fraxel Restore on 12/21. My procedure went as follows: arrive at doc office and get face covered in numbing cream, wait an hour and then go into treatment room, doc injections me with lidocaine 12 times!!! This part really hurt. He made injections across my temple and then in my mouth two upper and two lower. This was incredibly painful and I couldn't feel anything. I disliked the injection part the most. Then doc started treatment. Due to the injections I couldn't feel anything on my forehead and on most of my face. There were some spots where I could feel the laser. Like right beneath my eyes and on my cheeks. It was painful - not gonna lie. The process lasted about 10 minutes. I could barely open my eyes due to the lidocaine injections and I couldn't talk hardly at all. I felt like crap!
Next day my face swelled up like crazy! I couldn't believe how swollen I was. It took about 5 days to look normal. Meaning I could go out of house and do errands. My face had a sandpaper feel to it for another week. I did have some peeling but not a lot. The recovery wasn't really painful - but I def couldn't have gone to work for 5 days. Also my chin broke out with a bunch of pimples and white heads. That lasted 5-10 days post treatment.
But I love my skin now!!! My crows feet and lines were significantly diminished. My forehead is as smooth as ever. This procedure was definitely worth the cost and recovery!!! Dr McMahan has been doing laser for a long time and he is extremely experienced. I credit him for no issues and a great result. I'm going to book another treatment in next month or so. I think 2 will be all I need. And then will do one once a year. I love my skin!!!!

3 month update

Here is a picture from my 3 month mark. I am going back on 4/5 for my second Fraxel treatment. I still love the texture of my skin and it has never looked better. Some of my sleep lines by my chin are a little more pronounced than last update bc I continue to sleep on my side! But they are still much better than the before pics!

Your skin looks great. Sorry if you've already answered this but how was the peeling? How long did the peeling last? Also you had said you couldn't have gone to work for 5 days after procedure. Any changes there? Thank you for your honesty on this procedure.

One week out from my second and an about to post. I didn't have much peeling but I don't think I am generally much of a peeler. My issue is major swelling. I could have gone to work on Monday following a Wednesday procedure. I wouldn't have been the best looking version of myself but I definitely could have gotten by. My peeling honestly wasn't bad at all.

I am so glad that you are happy with your procedure. I personally don't think that you needed it. You were already beautiful. And there was nothing wrong with your skin I could see.
Did you have to be put to sleep, under general anesthesia? That is what worries me the most. I have had a lot of surgeries so everytime I have to be put to sleep I get anxious.
Thank you for telling us about your experience. And you look Beautiful!!!

I was awake the whole time! They give you numbing cream and then shots into your face. Sounds bad and it is not comfortable but it’s effective. But you are awake the whole time. This was the best decision I ever made in terms of my face.

Second Round of Fraxel
RiggyCharlieApril 13, 2017
My first round was late December and I did my second round on April 5. The procedure itself was exactly the same as above. The recovery was actually a little worse only in that my swelling seemed to be one day behind where I was last time. Not a big deal bc I planned accordingly. I avoided the chin area bc last time I had those awful breakouts. I am now one week out and omg love my results again. I know they will only get better over time!

Riggy, My fraxel damage did not appear until after my third treatment. Please be cautious. I am also in Columbus.

I wonder how the Fraxel was administered in your case? Does the tip touch your skin and dragged in linear form?
