WORTH IT
I got diagnosed with breast Cancer, I was 41 years, I chose to have double mastectomy. After undergoing all my treatment I thought yes I am now cancer free, but i spent a lots of times at home alone most of the days, two years after my treatment I become very depressed and hated my new body. I can't find any dress to make me look like a woman again, because I am very skinny and always been a size 6. One day I was having a very sad moment and thinking I needed to do something about myself, and I started going back to my breast surgeon, my GP and my oncologist asking them to give me a referral to see a specialist plastic surgeon to have my breast reconstruction. All 3 of them recommended me to see Dr Ellis Choy. My reconstruction involved two stage of operations with tissue expansion & implant approach with also use of biological mesh for extra reinforcement due to my body being too thin & small. For me I thought using this way I won’t have any extra scars from other parts of body especially when I’m so skinny and have nothing else to spare for my breast reconstruction! straight after my operation, I was so happy that I finally have my breasts again! My breast reconstruction now completed and i am very happy with the end result and looking forward to continue living.

good for you my friend. I was undergone bilateral mastectomy 3 months ago because of cancer. I'm 43 year old and now I have tissue expander for reconstruction 4 months later.but I'm worried about its result and dont know about which type of implant is better. your implant looks nice and seems natural.I'm happy for you.can I ask your implant kind:round or tear drop shapped implant...thanks for sharing your experience and I am so hopeful to continue living...

Could you tell me how soft yours are? I'm about 4 years out of reconstruction but from day 1 mine have been rock solid. I still can't figure out whether thats as good as I can expect. Thanks.

Do you mind if I ask, what implants do you select? Thanks

Hi, I just undergone bilateral mastectomy and have tissue expander put in for reconstruction. I am very thin and The doctor too had to put mesh for extra reinforcement. Your implants look very good and natural, just wondering did you have any fat injection after the implant? Thanks

No I didn't have any fat injection amberc500

My PS has mentioned fat injection to me as a possibility to me. I had immediate reconstruction on my left breast, which I had a prophylactic mastectomy on and my expander is on my right side where had cancer. I am thinking that if I have fat injections that they will be on the right side.

My situation is similar to yours; because I'm very thin, after the doctor removed the right breast where had cancer, there was a visible hollow spot where my PS suggested to inject some fat. I have one more fill to go. Did your chest feel very tight through out the expansion process? Mine feel very tight.

Congrats!! For me, the expansion process was more of an annoyance than being difficult. I just had my exchange surgery about two weeks ago and all is well. I am very happy with the entire process and feel very blessed everything went well. I hope the same for you :)

Hi so glad you are in a good place of healing! I had my recon started 3 wks ago w expanders. What stage were you? I was told at first stage 0 but after surgery dcis turned invasive and found unknown dcis on other side MRI did not pick up. Now waiting to see onco dr but I really don't meet guidlines for chemo- whatever that means. Then why see onco??
