WORTH IT
I had been having botox, dysport and fillers and just couldn't get the desired outcome. I am 57 and my skin has been sun damaged and along with the aging process, I suspect genetics didn't help, my skin was quite lined in all areas, texture was quite rough.
I had my treatment on the 20th November, 2018, laser resurfacing done by Dr Shobhan Manoharan. I have super sensitive skin, quite a few reactions and during the first 10 days of recovery I could have thrown myself off a cliff at times. Every cream I used reddened my face, felt like my face was being scraped off with a scalpel and i had to take pain killers to wash it morning and night with the cleanser. The neighbours could hear me screaming in pain. An usual reaction for most people but that's me, I've always had difficulty with the chemicals in creams. Dr Manoharan and his team helped me through the process to become comfortable. I changed to Avene products which I've always found the most gentle of all the hundreds of products I've sampled over my lifetime. Expensive products to apply every two hours, I used up $520 worth of creams in the second week but the relief proved the money was well spent.
Three weeks after the resurfacing now and it takes 4-6 months for full effect with regards to skin tightening. If I didn't progress further I would still be the happiest woman on this earth. Despite my skin still being red and blotchy, itchy at times, feeling tight and requiring two hourly application of moisturiser, the difference with regards to the lines and skin texture is amazing.
I used to try to avoid turning side on around people as my cheeks were quite crazed and lined. Fillers in the past pumped up my cheeks but the texture of my skin was still awful and the lines still visible. Makeup enhanced the lines.
I have no lines or crazing on my cheeks anymore!!!
My skin has already tightened quite noticeably around my eyes. My jowls have lifted. I still have a way to go on my journey and I cannot wait to see where it will stop in a few months time.
This treatment has boosted my confidence so much. Although I'm still red and blotchy I can already go out feeling more confident because my skin is smooth, I have half the lines I had prior.
For those who say this treatment is harsh or too expensive I would dispute it. It is the Gold standard of any facial treatment. I had fraxel laser 6 years ago and hardly noticed any benefit, besides that treatment requires more than one treatment.
