Voluma is Nice but It Does Not Last Two Years - Cincinnati, OH

ORIGINAL POST

Hi ladies, I thought I'd discuss my experiences...

Hi ladies,

I thought I'd discuss my experiences with Voluma over the past couple years. I am a 45 year old woman with a thin face. I've always had a thin face but when 40 hit it's been thinner. ugh!
so when I heard voluma was approved I was very happy, especially since it was supposed to last 2 years!!

I first got 2cc in each cheek April 2014 and then 1cc in my marionette lines Sept. 2014

By mid 2015 I noticed that most of it was gone. July 2015 I got 1cc in each cheek and then in December of 2015 I got another 1cc in each cheek to plump me back up to 2cc in each cheek.

This was all before the 2 year anniversary of the initial 2cc per cheek. It is very expensive!! I am really not sure it's worth it!

I just got once syrige in each cheek at $800 per. Thinking about they're estimated time it lasts. Botox, juvederm. .
I just did them all. I feel that I look great, but at $3600..
It's pricey. If you have any other ideas for ladies like us..please post. You look great!

thank you! and Yes, it's so pricey, I love it when I first have it done but then seeing how quickly it fades is a real bummer.

I have the same problem as you, but my face is much thinner and I am 44. I tried Juvederm, Restaylne and Botox. I was basically throwing my money away. My doctor's office suggested I try Sculptra and I got my first round 4 days ago. I was fortunate enough to be the office test subject and got the first 2 vials free. I researched it for months. So far I really like it. I plan to post my experience here whenever I get my pictures downloaded. I will have to pay for the following treatments which are $600 a piece. I hope that it will be more cost efficient in the long run. You may want to consider it.

Rachel, I have been reading a lot about Sculptra and plan to ask my PS about it. I do wonder if it'd be a better choice. I'd love to hear how it works out for you. please keep us posted.

Would like to see your results

I have had four vials of Sculptra between August and January of this year at a great price. I had been getting Radiesse - another product that does not last. I am thin and fit, so I believe I metabolize quickly. My injector suggested Sculptra since she was one of the original people working on their trials. I know it works slowly, but I see absolutely no change or even the slightest improvement. It could take 8 or 9 months after treatment to see any results, so I am clearly a slow responder. I may have to think about fat transfer.

I must say the results were fantastic with no side effects. Just be sure to massage injection sites like they say to prevent any types of bumps. It is has been a year and i had one more vial of Sculptra in my cheeks along with one vial of Voluma. I like it but I think it could be an expensive upkeep for me. I have been talking with the PS and going ahead and considering a face lift because I have an extremely thin face along with environmental allergies that give me bags under my eyes. I will work on uploading pictures so you can see the differences over a year.

I think that your current photo looks very, very pretty and you still have the fuller look to your face :) I've never had experience with Voluma, but I'm thinking that we will all metabolize any filler at a different rate - maybe your a faster metabolizer? Just throwing it out there. I've had Botox before (between brows) and it lasts about 8-9 months for me (which is really long) and I just tried Juvederm for my lips, very conservatively and am doing the lip filler in 2 steps in order to let the swelling go down and see how my body reacts to it, then add more as needed. Are you able to perhaps do the Voluma in 2 or 3 steps in order to determine how long it lasts for you? Really, you do look very good and not sunken in at all :)

Totally agree with you. For the majority of us these fillers are wonderful only for our short term beauty needs. Too expensive for long term beauty maintenance! Let's hope the marketers of these fillers eventually can research and develop new products to target our needs more cost effectively in a near future. Maybe new competitors can address our needs for more accessible products. It's a promising market ... let's keep our fingers crossed. You look beautiful midwestgal71!

pouches at sides of mouth

midwestgal71
does anyone else find they have pouches..i guess it's sagging skin at the corners of the mouth. It's not exactly a downturn like a marrionette line. If I pull up on my cheeks a bit it goes away. Anyhow have this corrected with fillers?

I'm thinking that filling the smile lines and/or marionette lines would pull that area up and out, possibly - I guess that it would depend on the elasticity of one's skin as to how well that approach would work. My next thought would be a laser treatment to tighten the skin, maybe? I would've never noticed until you pointed the area out :) A lower face-lift would be a much more permanent technique - I'd got least invasive first :)

Hi, i did try a laser treatment two years ago. it was at a different doctor and I will never go back. I'm embarrassed to admit it cost $2600 and did NOTHING. It is called Elixis Elite and it was supposed to be like Ultherapy. I went three times and actually I think it made the pouches worse. I worry it got rid of fat and I certainly need all the fat I can get in my face. Anyhow, if anyone ever wants to try Elixis Elite I highly discourage it. I work hard for my money and it's a total scam.
I'll stick with fillers until I'm in my mid 50s then I'll probably go for the face lift :)

I had laser to my undereye areas for bags in 2009 and it did absolutely nothing! Never again. I've had restylane and voluma for marionette lines and that worked well. I need a retouch, but I found out about fillers for undereye hollows aost 3 weeks ago and (he wanted to do 4cc, but I allowed only 2cc). I look better and intend to do 2cc after 6-8 months. I'm more comfortable with subtle improvement over time, than a large injection that looks horrible. Glad I did - I had some swelling the first week, but the second week it is much better.
April 5, 2016
Plan to get the marionette lines done late summer, then eye tunnel touchup later.
April 6, 2016
I'm sorry you also wasted money on the lasers! i'm glad that you have a good result for under eye hollows.

I have EXACTLY what you are describing. I had Juvederm injections to correct it. It looks great. You just want to be sure the injector knows what they're doing. The RN I see for fillers never suggested it, even when I pointed out concern, buy the doctor saw it and fixed it right away. Has to be done correctly so it doesn't make the problem worse. I love it and suggest it highly. Hope this helps!
March 28, 2016
hi Heidi, where did they inject the filler to pull up this area?
March 28, 2016
Into the below tje jowels and on the edge/bottom of jawline and the corners of the mouth. The Dr.'s RN didn't know how to do use any fillers for the jowels, but the doctor knew exactly what to do. My situation is the nurse's charges are 40% less than the plastic surgeons. I had to see him for a 2 week prior lip fill repair, so he only charges me her price. Bottom line is you have to have someone that knows how to do that area.

I have the same thing. It is sagging skin due to loss of volume in the mid face. I am also looking for a solution.

You are so right about the addiction. When I stopped I didn't look any different after 8 months! I never needed it and it's so poisonous to your whole system. You aren't truly healthy and living with Botox.

btw. you look so wasted
