Sliding Genioplasty Extremely Bad Results
2 years ago I had double jaw surgery combined with sliding genioplasty. I don't have any complaints about jaw surgery but I am so unhappy with my genioplasty results. 6 mm chin augmention had been done with sliding genioplasty.
I had this procedure to make my long face shorter and correct severe lip incompetence. Actually jaw surgery made my face slightly shorter but my chin became huge and really long which results a much longer face than I had pre-op. I have a really narrow lower face so a long chin makes my appearance even terrible.
Before surgery I made my points very clear with the surgeon. I told him exactly what I expect from this surgery and he told me that my goals are achievable. I also told him that I am afraid of having a longer chin vertically...
After surgery I first realized that my mentalid strain was still there and I can't close my lips. After a few weeks I realized that my lower lip sags and can't cover my bottom teeth. It made me feel terrible but doctor told me it will heal with time. But it never healed. After a few months I was extremely sad with my chin because it was vertically too long and I think it is the reason I can't close my lips because my lower lip and the chin bone has a long distance. My chin looks good on profile view but terrible on front view. My surgeon doesn't care about me and he says everything is okay. I am pretty sure he only considers the profile view and thinks that the surgery was a success. But frontal view is much more important than profile view!!! I look sooo bad. I went from someone who has no chin to a witch. And it is not just in my head because everyone around me commented about my face and chin and they all said my chin became too long and my face looks too skinny. It's been 2 years but I am still so depressed over my chin that I don't want to leave my house. My chin is almost as long as my forehead. Plus I still have some lower lip numbness and some side of my chin is completely numb.
I wish I've never said okay to chin surgery. After I thought I made my points really clear and expected to be happy with my results I had a hugeeee disappointment.
I search about a revision surgery but all I can see that revision genioplasty is way too risky and it can damage muscle or cause chin pad sagging. I never saw a good revision genioplasty result at all.
