Biggest Mistake of my Life

Biggest Mistake of my Life

$21,000
I saw Dr. Repta for a revision rhinoplasty and chin implant removal/sliding genioplasty. As a result of the surgery, my nose droops and my chin is ptotic and overly projected with a deep and unsightly labiomental crease. There are divots in the jawline, and my nose bears obvious alar base scarring. I look markedly worse than before the surgery, so bad that his staff mixed up my before and after photos. Dr. Repta offered to revise both for free, but at the same time indicated that he probably could not fix the problems that he had caused. Given how badly botched both procedures were, I asked for a refund so that I could have a more skilled and competent surgeon repair his unfortunate work. In response, he had his secretary email me that he would not. I am shocked that he would stand by his work, and equally offended that he could not bring himself to discuss this with me directly. As a rule, I do not leave reviews, but this experience has ruined my life so much that I feel compelled to do so here. Do not let this man touch your face with a scalpel.

I had a rhinoplasty revision surgery done by doctor Repta and I can’t thank him enough for the work he did for me. He met all my expectations and was very kind as as well as his staff, when it comes to revisions I went in with the intention that he can make it better but maybe not 100% fortunately for me he did fix it 100%. I think you’re probably overreacting by saying don’t let this man touch your face when your first surgery made it difficult for him to perform a revision and I don’t think you can say that without showing a picture, just my opinion.

If you had plans on seeing doctor Repta for any procedure take this review lightly as I have nothing but the best to say about him and his work.
Cant see how your nose actually looks, but as far as the chin osteotomy, consider having it slightly reversed, its something that can be done , but Id advice you to consult a good maxillofacial surgeon, its their speciality, not a plastic surgeon. And as far as the investment that now the Mr. Repta wont refund, Im afraid youll have to turn to legal measures. Best of lucks!
Thank you for providing this review. We are sorry to hear that we have not met your expectations. Although we strive to provide the best service and results possible, there are at times limitations that prevent us from accomplishing what is desired including limitations of patient anatomy, surgical effects from prior surgeons work, as well as my own skills and abilities.
I understand that, Dr. Repta. Unfortunately, you failed to advise me of the substantial risks attendant with the chin surgery and revision rhinoplasty, and, critically, incorrectly told me that ptosis was NOT a risk, when in fact it was a likely outcome. Had I been aware of this and other risks, I never would have gone ahead with this surgery. I asked for a refund because you have been so nice up to this point; I thought you might decline to benefit in this particular case so that I could financially afford to undo what should never have been done, which, again, would not have been done if you had correctly informed me of the risks. I continue to be disappointed that the only forum in which you have responded to me directly is this public forum.
How could you plan to advance the chin so far beyond the most anterior point of the vertical lip line?? No criteria supports that, its not a matter of chance but bad planning on your part to leave the patient with a prognathic mandible. And then, to shield behind your staff through an e-mail....no comments...
I’m glad you had a good experience. As you can see, my horrifying chin picture is posted. Including my nose makes me identifiable and so I have chosen not to post it.
I take your point. I will think about it. Honestly, looking at photos of myself hurts so much that I can’t bring myself to sit down and crop and post one. Also, further update: my condition is so bad that one well-known surgeon I reached out to wrote me that he would not operate: “ With all the scarring and tissue changes caused by previous surgery, I am concerned that your desired result could not be achieved with additional surgery and that your condition could even be made worse.”
Don't loose faith. I suggest to write a diary each day documenting how you feel. Make a YouTube video talking about your experiences. I suggest you sue him. Even if you don't win the case, it's at least a public mark against his company that the public will have to know about. You can sue him for emotional damages and negligence. His response alone is enough proof of the lack of care on his end about what he did. He messed up and did not even warn you beforehand that you were supposedly hard to operate on. Thus is negligent of him and his company. Get a good lawyer and fight this in court. I am so sorry to hear what happened to you but you need to find the mental strength right now to keep going. You will get through this. Keep looking for surgeons willing to do revisions even if that means travelling overseas to Korea.
I’m not a doctor but look at pictures of hyper dynamic chin ptosis-can possibly be treated with Botox and also it could be the way the mentalis was resuspended.
