Extended Submental Liposuction!

UPDATED FROM Malcissa
3 months post

Three months out.

WORTH IT$2,250
I don’t have much to add. Everything looks good and I’m very happy with my results. I have no tightness or pain. My mouth, lips, jaw, and neck all move normally. All the sensation is back, though the area directly under my chin does feel a bit...different. It’s hard to explain. It’s not numb at all, but it’s not as sensitive as other areas. A good way to describe it might be as follows: if someone tickled that area lightly with a feather, I wouldn’t notice right away. This does not bother me at all. I almost never touch that area unless I’m washing my face.
If you’re thinking of having this done, my advice is to follow your doctor’s directions exactly. I wore my compression garment for nearly 24 hours a day for the first month and I really think that prevented a lot of swelling and helped my results “stick.” I’d also recommended investing in a vibrating massager. I followed doctor’s orders and massages the lipo area for 45 minutes a day for a couple months. This eliminates the tightness I was feeling during the first month of healing.
Another tip: take a LOT of before pictures. Not gonna lie - there were a few days when I thought, “I can’t even tell a difference!” I’d make myself a before/after collage and BAM! Huge difference! It helped give me a reality check.
Before lipo, I was considering having a chin implant. Having this procedure has boosted my confidence more than I expected. I feel much prettier and feel more comfortable with other people taking photos of me. I am pleased with how I look and am no longer planning to have a chin implant.
I am happy to answer any questions anyone may have if they’re thinking of having submental lipo, or are considering Dr. Friedman!

Dr. Friedman is a pro and an artist. He is clearly knowledgable, but also has a personality that puts you at ease. His sense of humor helps you to stay relaxed, especially if you like puns as much as I do. Jin and the rest of the staff are equally wonderful. They showed genuine concern before, during, and after the procedure. I don't plan to have any more procedures, but Dr. Friedman would be my #1 choice for any additional work. No complaints!

You look amazing! Your review is very thorough and helpful! I had this done today and I am hoping my results are as fantastic as yours!
That is exactly what I want to get done. Is extended Lipo different than lipo? Ball park price if I may ask? How many days before you returned to work/school?
extended is $2400, I just had this done with Dr. Friedman on 8/16, you can return the next day and the extended goes further up the jaw line, so it takes care of "jowels" and really helps to redefine your jaw line
Wow - you look SO good! You def do not need a chin implant now imo, you have a very nice chin actually that suits your new jawline. I am in the same boat as you pre procedure - I have no jawline & look like I have no neck...my fat makes it look like I have a deformaty from the side. I think the chin/neck/jawline really makes a huge difference in appearence. I cannot stand my no neck/jawline. I've been thinking about this on/off for years. Your pics are making me want this procedure even more as I think your results are stunning. Are the results permenent? Even in shape and healthy the fat does not leave my double chin which morphes into my neck...the lack of definition really really makes me feel ugly. I like reading you are feeling great about yourself...
I just had Extended Submental Lipo with Dr. Friedman on 8/16, you should definitely schedule a consultation with him. He will answer all your concerns. I was hesitant to do this but after reading his reviews and seeing his before and after shots, I took the plunge and I am so so so happy I did, I'm only 5 days out and I already have more confidence. I can actually see my JAW LINE!! I hadn't seen definition in my jaw line for YEARS!
Thank you for this review! Your results are SO good!!! Did you go completely under anesthesia for this or just local? I have a consultation on Thursday.
Hi! I hope your consultation went well. I just had local anesthesia. I truly felt no pain, just some pressure when the area was filled with fluid prior to the actual liposuction. Dr. Friedman and his team took great care of me!
You look so great!

So happy to have ugly before photos to put side-by-side with my new ones.

You look wonderful and he did a great job. I had my chin done 4/2 and the bruising is so bad it looks like I was strangled, despite taking arnica and using ointment. It will be worth it though and I can only hope to get the kind of results you have.
I used arnica pills and ointment, too - I really don't think it made a difference. I think I just lucked out! I hope your recovery went well and that you are super happy with the results. I'd love to see pics! :)
Wow!!! Awsome results!!! I can't wait for my turn. Dr Friedmans work is so amazing!!! wishing you continued healing.
Do you have any residual tightness or uncomfortable sensations in the neck and chin area?
I have no tightness or discomfort in my neck or chin. There is one small patch of skin that feels a little less sensitive than the rest, but it isn't painful.
Great result! I’m 4 days post and doing well. What type of massager did you use? Thanks!

Day 18, I think?

Everything is going great! The bandage over my incision fell off on day 14. My scar is small and purple. There is a hard lump of scar tissue just underneath it, but there's no visible bump. The scar is tender, but not painful. I tried to lean with my chin on the palm of my hand a few times, and that's really uncomfortable! I've been applying Prosil (given to me by Dr. Friedman's office) to help with the scar healing process. I've been using a vibrating massager to massage the whole liposuction area for 45 minutes each night. I think I still have a bit of swelling that worsens while I have my compression garment off, but I know that will go away. I'm still wearing my compression garment for 18 hours a day. Not fun, but I want the best results!

I'm really glad I took a lot of horrendous before photos so that I have plenty to compare to my new jawline. :)

Wow! what a beautiful job! You don't look like you would even need a chin implant now, as the lipo made your chin look so much more defined!!
Did you continue using the compression garment that the Dr provided or get your own? I got my lipo a month ago and the one the Dr gave me is too big now so I'm looking for an effective new one!
