Bye Bye Double Chin

Finally booked my appointment for extended chin lipo with Dr. Friedman in Plano, TX. I thought I would start documenting my journey a little early and make a post about my thoughts and why Im deciding to go through with this. I've always had a round baby face that included a genetic double chin (even at my lowest weight when I did sports all through high school and when I was broke and starving in college). I don't mind having a round feminine face but I can't stand my double chin and jowls. I remember starting in middle school, I would jut my chin out or hide my chin with my hands during pictures. Because of hating candid photos of me, I barely have any pictures of me with my partner or with friends saved anywhere. I hate how insecure it makes me. Towards the end of high school, I remember seeing an ad for Kybella on TV and telling my parents "I need this! I want a jawline!" but they would just tell me to "lose weight". I started to do more research into "chipo" during my early 20s, had some consultations with some doctors in my area but none of them had any impressive before and afters of "chipo" or the starting price would be 5k. Around this time I found Friedman on RealfSelf and loved his portfolio, the raving reviews and especially the price but was too nervous about going out of state for surgery on my own. Fast forward a couple years when Covid hit, I realized how much I loved the fact that I could hide my face with a mask. I felt so much more confident with a mask on. Even now, when wearing a mask isn't expected anymore, I still feel so much more comfortable wearing it. I am now 26 and know that if I don't have this procedure soon I'll have to deal with lose skin complications later. I still complain about my double chin to my family and my partner and honestly I get annoyed with myself over talking about it so much also! Saving up the money has been a struggle and one of the reasons why I've waited so long but I'll be using Care Credit to help me out and pay it off over time. I put the deposit down and now have to wait until the day of surgery in anticipation. I'm so nervous and hope it turns out well. I fly into Dallas the same day as the surgery and will be leaving the next day. The stories on RealSelf have helped me feel so much better about going through with this.

omg reading this sounds exactly like me. I've been talking about it to my friends and family forever and I also have no pics or always wear a mask around my neck.. thank you for sharing your experience. I think I'm finally going to make the call.

About 2 months left until my procedure! I’m so excited and nervous. The only thing I’m worried about is having to sleep upright for the first week and doing my massages correctly so I don’t get lumps during the healing process. Other than that m so ready to have this double chin be gone forever!

Here are some of the before pictures I sent to Dr. Friedman’s office through email. I’m hoping to get more jaw bone definition and get rid of that little pocket of fat right under my chin. Every single day I wake up and look at my double chin thinking about how bizarre and out of place it feels on my neck. Contouring with makeup can only do so much. Even though I haven’t had the procedure yet, I still feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders knowing it’ll be gone soon.

Hey there, my chin is very very much like yours and I’m considering this procedure, what did your doc say about blending with the cheek/ jowl area?

Hey! He's recommending extended lipo which would suck along the jaw line and give it more definition. From what I've heard from other surgeons is that they try to be caution of this area in case they hit the nerve on your jaw bone which can temporarily affect your smile. I'll see what he says in a couple weeks when I see him in person before my surgery but I trust that it'll turn out great regardless.
Thanks for starting your review and good luck with your procedure! :I'm looking forward to reading how you got on :)
