One month later
Just had my one month follow up appointment. My doctor gave me some injections for the hard spots and advised I massage the area to help as well. Tightness is still there, but I know this is all part of the process.
2 weeks post
Bruising is close to gone. Feeling good. Definitely have the hard lumps/ swelling that many others have after lipo. Still pretty tight, have a hard time trying to tilt my head upwards. Can’t wait for final results.
Chin Lipo W/ Muscle Tightening
I wanted to write my experience here, since much of my own research included reading many personal stories. I hope this might help someone else out in making their own decisions with surgery.
I’ve always had a pocket of fat under my chin. I’ve never been overweight. And even at my thinnest it’s there. Now that I’m pushing 40 and popped out a kid it’s really been feeling heavy under there and I was starting to notice the beginnings of jowls *yikes*. I wanted to do something about it before it got worse and while my skin still had good elasticity. So I began to seriously research my options. At first I was leaning more towards injections (like Kybella) because I’m a huge baby and surgery is a scary word; but after talking to a woman who gotten Kybella, and reading more up on it all, I started to consider lipo more. The main reason being that the results with injections are not always what we’d want them to be and it would take months longer and possibly 2-3 injections to begin to see any kind of result. On the other hand with lipo, the fat cells are gone for good and the results were pretty much instant (with minor swelling for a few weeks) but results were generally guaranteed and more drastic. I didn’t want to risk spending thousands for results I wasn’t fully happy with. So I decided to put my big girl pants on and do lipo. I looked into doctors in my area and found one I was happy with. At my consultation my doctor also recommended tightening the muscle underneath my chin to prolong my results. I hadn’t considered muscle tightening so I didn’t research that obsessively like I had lipo, so I was nervous at the idea, but he said it wouldn’t add too much to my recovery. So I figured, if I’m gonna do it, then do it right. As luck would have it, there was a cancellation in their surgery schedule and I was able to get in in less than two weeks! The staff was absolutely wonderful. I was incredibly nervous but they really helped to keep me comfortable and calm(ish). Immediately after surgery (I was put under) I was nauseous, but they quickly gave me something to help and all was good. The doctor did a full, tight head wrap and I was off. Went home and rested. Slept with my head elevated. Went back to the doctor in the morning to get that massive wrap removed and was given a new wrap. It wasn’t all that bad. You actually get kind of used to it. I only took it off to shower and it felt so weird to have it off. The pain wasn’t too bad. Took oxy the first couple days and then just regular Tylenol. Iced 10min on 20mins off for like two days. Doctor recommended stopping the wrap after four days. I read all different things about how long to wear head wraps, and after talking to my doctor about it; I trust his recommendation to stop after four. But all patients, I’m sure are case by case and may require longer (idk I’m no doctor!) Just had my stitches out (there’s a couple Dissolvable stitches still in my chin). The doctor is very happy with the results so far. He says now to just put Aquaphor on the Incisions and to now apply heat for the bruising. The swelling with go away within the coming weeks. I’ll try to keep updating. My surgery was 11/30/2021. Here are before photos and photos from a week later. Excited for all the swelling to be gone
