Chin implant and Submental Lipo

I’ve been thinking about having a chin implant for four years now and have finally bit the bullet and got it booked in. My surgery is in three days and I’m really excited/anxious to see the result.
I have hated my profile for as long as I can remember and it makes me extremely self-conscious, so much to the point where I feel extremely uncomfortable when people sit beside me and I’m constantly trying to cover my face with my hair. As a result of my weak chin I have also developed quite a big double chin over the last few years which as you can imagine has made me even more self-conscious.
My PS has suggested a small anatomical chin implant (although he will try different sizers during surgery) via intraoral route and submental liposuction, he has also said he is going to do a full labiomental fold soft tissue release as I’m concerned that the chin implant will make my labiomental fold even deeper (has anyone else had this concern?) He has even said that I may want to have fillers in this area afterwards for best results (but I’m seriously hoping I don’t have to and I will be happy with my results!)
So yeah, I’m going to keep updating this after the surgery with after pictures. I’m praying that I like the results. Wish me luck guys ????

Good luck! I'm considering a chin implant as well, but have been concerned about getting a deep labiomental fold. I haven't heard of labiomental fold soft tissue release before, but it sounds like it would be something I'd want. Will the procedure be done with local or general anesthesia? Will look forward to updates!

Thank you! That’s what I’m really worried about right now, my surgery is tomorrow and I’m freaking out! I’m just praying it comes out nicer than what it is now and I don’t make the problem worse! I hadn’t either, I think it will just make the labiomental fold come out a little bit but not much? I did ask my surgeon about it but I didn’t fully understand if I’m honest, I’m just putting my faith in him! General eek. Thank you, I’ll be updating frequently.

Good luck

I had mine done last week but I have not updated pictures. I am having second thoughts about it. So I am looking forward to your experience.

Thank you! Can I ask why you’re having second thoughts?

The PS said he was going to place a small implant and after during the surgery said he needed a Medium and I am 8 days post opt and my face looks too long. The side view looks perfect but the front view looks to long and I don't like it. =( now I habe to face my coworkers and friends u_u the change doesn't look subtle. The doctor said it will still go downa bit and I hope it does. I wish I would habe done fillers first. Also, my smile looks different. He says to give it time around 2 months. U_U I hope it does. I havent uploaded pictures. Maybe I should. I just havent made the time to like edit them.and cover my eyes on them.

From everything I have read, everyone says it takes a good month for swelling to go down, it takes about 6 months for it to go fully so I wouldn’t worry too much at this point, it should still get smaller yet! Also everyone has said that it took them months to get their smile back so don’t worry too much! Yeah you should, I think everyone on here who has had it done will be able to reassure you and give their honest opinion. I know what you mean about seeing coworkers though, I’m dreading it especially if I’m unhappy with the results :(

Also, you’ll be surprised how many people probably won’t even notice! Remember that we’re really conscious of it because it’s our face, most people won’t take that much notice of how we look.

Thank you for your kind words. I go back tomorrow. I hope the swelling goes down a LOT hahaha. Good luck tomorrow.

I think you look great! Why are you feeling insecure? I’m getting the same procedure at the ens of the month

I think it is great you took the initiative to go ahead with augmenting your appearance. Though I do feel the advancement is fairly minimal. I would have not recommended a chin implant alone but in addition to a mandibular advancement, or a BSSO, performed by a qualified maxillofacial surgeon.

Day 2

So it’s the morning after my op! I’m still in hospital and will be getting discharged this morning.
Saw my plastic surgeon on yesterday and he said that it went really well and he’s happy wit the results so that’s definitely eased my nerves but I’m really anxious to see it now!!
I was in quite a bit of pain after I woke up but pain killers soon sorted it out. With a mix between tramadol, oral morphine and paracetamol my pain has been controlled really well and is pretty much minimal. Looking forward to five days time when I get to have a look at my chin, please be okay!!!!!!

My recomendation is to not look at yourself. Until that 5th or 6th day. I looked and I was so swollen I freaked out.
May 24, 2018
Yeah you’re right, I tried looking today but I stopped myself! I’m gonna try and not look at it until they check the wound in 5 days. Has your swelling gone down a bit more now?
May 25, 2018
Like a tiny bit, now one side looks more swollen than the other. (Rolling my eyes). My right side looks bigger than my left side, so I hope they pair up. Idk if I am getting used to it but I see it a bit smaller now. Like it is suiting me more. I need patience. But dont look because that was what freaked me out especially not being able to smile like before. I feel like my muscles are tight.

Ahh glad it’s gone done a bit! Yeah sometimes one side is more swollen than the other. I’m sure you’ll be happy with your result when the swellinf has gone completely :)

Day 4 post op

Hi guys, so the last few days have been full of pain and annoyance. I’ve been quite nauseous too so had to lay off my stronger pain meds.
Feeling a tiny bit better today, so I thought I’d take my garment off for two seconds to see how it’s going down there! I’m still very swollen but I can see that my profile is going to look so much nicer than before so I’m extremely hopeful that I’m going to be happy with the results! The front doesn’t look so good atm cos my lips look really weird so I’ll save a front picture for a few days time.
I’m getting so bored of eating liquid foods, I’m actually going to try a little roast dinner cut up real small this evening. When did you guys find it easier to eat? Baring in mind my bottom lip is still really numb! Food keeps spilling into my compression garment grr.

Omg I almost forgot how food would slip out of my lips lol. The spilling got better by the 4th or 5th day. But I would take the compression garment off to eat.
May 28, 2018
Omg it’s been a nightmare haha! Getting easier now though. Ahh I should’ve done that, was too scared to take it off though! How’s your implant now, are you liking it better?
May 28, 2018
No, I do not see it going down anymore. U_U my lips are still sinked in. And my face looks too long. I really want it changed. I will ask my doctor. Hope he gives me a positive answer. But at least I am not horrified when I look in the mirror now because my cheeks have gone down and I dont look square. Yours looks great though. I like it that your chin not over your lips.
May 28, 2018
My the way. I like your garment. Did you buy it somewhere or the doctor gave it to you? I might have to get one like it for my revision (really thinking about getting one).
May 28, 2018
Aw that’s a shame :( hopefully there still is some swelling left to go down yet! I’d give it a good month before you think about a revision! Thank you, to me it looks too big atm but I know it’s still swollen and I’m not used to seeing myself with a prominent chin! I’m not looking again until tomorrow now when I have my stitches removed. The doctor gave me it! It’s good for swelling but isn’t very comfortable. I have wear it 24/7 for a week and then every night for a few weeks after.
