Implant misplaced. High risk of more complications. Very disappointed.

ORIGINAL POST

Outstanding Surgeon. Trustworthy and Reliable.

I was operated on by Dr. Mark Doyle for a chin implant procedure nearly 6 months ago now.

Although he didn't quote exorbitant fees, it was clear after extensive research that he was one of the best in his field with a track record to match.

He was very straight forward, patient and happy to answer any and all of my questions with a non-nonsense response. I knew right after my initial consult that I would need to look no further for a surgeon whom I'd trust with my face.

Although I had some post-op complications outside Dr. Doyle's control, his efforts to return my calls to execute a prompt treatment plan didn't go unnoticed. On several occasions and even after a full day of surgeries, he would get back me with a personal phone call which I feel is outstanding for such a busy person.

While my surgical results didn't turn out 100%, I can't fault Mark or his staff as they've been a pleasure to deal with since day one.

Chin is noticeably droopier after surgery. Lower teeth more visible. Disappointed.

Terrific9294
As the swelling has become almost non-existent I've noticed my bottom lip has a much lower resting state than before surgery, in some cases revealing a portion of my bottom teeth.

My chin also has a very unsightly droop appearance (ptosis) when I talk or smile in certain ways.

Ultimately I'm disappointed these complications weren't pointed out to me as a potential risk if this procedure were carried out as an intra-oral vs. sub-mental approach.

Had I have known the above facts before surgery, I would've opted for a sub-mental approach only, however, I'm not a surgeon and rely solely on their professional opinion and guidance.

I can't fault Dr. Doyle for his efforts and overall bedside manner, but If I could turn back time I wouldn't have allowed Dr. Doyle to operate on me using this approach.

Chin implant completely misplaced. Potential for huge complications if left untreated such as bone resorption.

Terrific9294
Just had my CT scan results after I suspected my chin implant was malpositioned.
As I suspected, it was placed far too high, resulting in poor aesthetics, a far higher chance of bone erosion (Do your own research on this) and also ptosis or sagging of the chin soft tissues.
I'm disappointed that such a routine cosmetic procedure wasn't carried out correctly and won't be consulting this surgeon again for any future cosmetic work.
Furthermore, when I bought these concerns up with Dr Mark Doyle there was no acknowledgement of the problem itself nor any suggestion for scans or follow-ups. Just simply an "I'll remove it if that's what you want".
My advice, if you want to have any work done on your chin / jaw, see a specialist in that field.

Oh wow! What was the doctor smoking? Even the village idiot would know not to place a chin implant that way.

To be fair, it may have migrated during the healing process, but it looked off from day one and when I requested imaging or concerns about the appearance I was brushed off.

Could you please tell me what did you expect?
In other words, was the implant supposed to be placed under the chin?
Did the doctor use any kind of stitches or screws to secured it ?
Thank you

I asked for it to be placed submentally (under the chin) but it was insisted that we do it through the mouth.

No such warnings of any complications such as chin / lip ptosis was explained.

No screws or fixation was used.

I'm so sorry to hear this. Message me if you're looking for a solution. Only a few surgeons around the world are competent at fixing this problem.
