Chin Implant and Neck Lipo

So a while back I decided to try cool sculpting to help give me a better profile. My whole life I've been concerned about my weak chin and was too chicken to really pull the trigger on permanent change. My first meeting with Dr. Guenther can be found in my other review, where I decided to take a baby step with cool sculpting, and then do more in the future if I decided it wasn't enough. Well, I finally decided that I wanted something more substantial. I had another consult with Dr.Dax on Sept 5, where we took new "before" pics and went over my options for "after." Their office uses Crisalix, which gives you a really great idea of what you can expect with your procedure. We agreed on an appropriate size and shaped implant (silicone) and he gave me the option of lipo. Since I was going to be paying the money and dealing with recovery already, I decided to go for the full package and get both.
My biggest concern with all this was recovery time. I scheduled the procedure for October 1, with a vacation booked for October 19. I was assured I should be in perfect condition by then (as long as there were no weird complications) but as a fairly young, healthy patient, my recovery time should be along the lines of 3-5 days! I was a tad skeptical, but very excited, so I jumped in.
The day of the procedure I was barely nervous, I was just excited for this new chapter of my life to begin. I met with the nurse first, then the anesthesiologist, then Dr. Guenther himself. They all asked their questions, let me know what the process would be, and made me feel extremely comfortable. I was put under with general anesthesia and the doctor placed the implant through my mouth and did the lipo from tiny incisions behind my ears, so there is no visible scaring!
When I got home from the procedure on day 1, I thought I would be able to eat some scrambled eggs (was told no “solid foods” due to mouth stitches) but it was much harder than expected. The whole bottom half of my mouth was numb, the food kept falling into my lip, and it was awkward opening my mouth that much. I ended up managing some applesauce, mashed potatoes, and mashed butternut squash much easier.
Day 2 was kind of more of the same, the swelling was pretty intense and things felt very sensitive, but I don’t think I would ever use the word “pain” (but I did keep up on the pain meds for the first 24hrs). But after 24hrs I stopped the every 4hr pain meds and only took the Tylenol for minor discomfort and swelling relief. After that, with each day, I noticed a decrease in swelling and increase in feeling, but I still feared it would take a long time for the swelling to really go down. But by day 4 or 5 I was feeling MUCH better about the results already! I have been capable of eating my more “solid” type foods (risotto, soft chicken, gnocchi), and the picture results are making me very happy for the full final result!
I was told the swelling and refining of everything could take as much as a year to fully take shape. But if I keep progressing every day, I can’t imagine I’ll be anything less than thrilled in the next 12 months. Today my lower lip is still a bit numb, so talking sounds a little funny, and there’s a little bruising, but I really couldn’t be happier! Excited to see how it keeps progressing, and starting my NEW life with my new face!!

Hi dear! Thanks for sharing this.. I'm on the same age as you. What size did you get for the implant?
October 26, 2019
Hi there! I'm not sure what the size was, but I'm sure it would be totally dependent on what your before looks like and what kind of after you would like. He showed me 3 types of implants they use, I could best describe as: narrow, slightly wider, or one with wings to add jaw definition (he said that one gives a kind of masculine look). Based on the computer generated image we made, we decided on the medium wide one, and he chose the right depth one from about 7 or so sizes they have. I didn't ask which one it was, because all that mattered was that the results fit me. I hope this helps? But Def get a doctor that can pick the perfect size for you! I trusted mine, totally :)

First post op appointment

Went to my 1 week post op appt today and the doctor was very happy with my progress, as am I! He took some photos to track the swelling progress, and said these aren't my official "Afters" yet. Will go back in 5 weeks and again in a year! All visits (including consult and pre op appt) are included in the cost of the procedure. The before photo they used is also pre cool sculpt, but it's a pretty amazing difference! The small dark spot is the only real bruising I still have, hopefully it'll be gone soon!

Love your results!!!
Im going to have mine at the end of January (chin implant plus neck lipo) with other Dr., may I asked you about the first days?? Did you have to sleep in your back and slightly sit?

I slept on my back with my head slightly elevated for about a week. It wasn't as hard as I expected, since I'm usually a side sleeper. And I was never really in pain, per say, it was more like discomfort for a couple days. Good luck with your surgery, I'm sure you'll love it :)

Coolsculpt didn't do a bad job at correcting your chin, but I agree that the implant is the way to go for the most remarkable result.
It looks great!
It looks great!

Thank you! I agree! The coolsculpt made me more comfortable with my appearance and the idea of more procedures. It was a good stepping stone I think.

How is your face looking from the front now? I had mine done on the 1st December and 2 weeks laser I still look like I have big cheeks and a pointy chin x

I love how it looks now, the swelling has continued to go down and every once and a while I notice that it looks a little different from a certain angle or something. I will say, I asked to get a kind of wider chin because I was afraid too narrow of one might look out of place since my jaw line has always been so round, but I occasionally wonder if it would have looked better narrower. But that's what we do I guess, pick ourselves apart! I can't doubt what I did, because I really do love it, and my doctor said it will continue to refine for up to a year! I will post some more current after pics too :)
Thank you for sharing your experience with plenty of detail. Your results are amazing and it's incredible that it hasn't even been a week! I hope you'll keep us updated on recovery :)
