Chin Implant Malposition Required Revision Surgery

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Jacob Sedgh following a chin implant procedure in October 2025. One of the main reasons I chose Dr. Sedgh was because I was told my implant would be customized and trimmed during surgery to achieve the result I wanted.

On the day of surgery, Dr. Sedgh arrived approximately 1.5 hours after the scheduled start time. The procedure was performed under local anesthesia, and I experienced significant pain during the operation. I could feel surgical instruments and implant sizers contacting bone, and despite visible distress, no additional anesthesia or comfort measures were provided.

After surgery, my chin appeared visibly asymmetrical, with the left side sitting higher and being disproportionately bulky. I developed significant pressure on my lower teeth, numbness in my lower lip and chin, and I could physically feel the implant protruding inside my mouth on the left side, even though the implant had been placed through an external incision under my chin.

I repeatedly tried to speak directly with Dr. Sedgh about these concerns but was told it was office policy that he does not take postoperative calls or video visits. This contradicted how his practice advertises postoperative availability. Follow-up was delayed, and when I was eventually seen, I was told to wait two more months to reassess despite worsening symptoms and visible deformity.

When I raised concerns about the height disparity, I was told it was due to natural facial asymmetry. When I asked why this had not been corrected during the promised surgical customization, I was told it had been addressed and the visit ended without further evaluation.

I ultimately sought a second opinion and required revision surgery. The revision operative report documented that the implant was malpositioned within the surgical pocket, allowing it to rotate and sit too high on one side with intraoral protrusion. Correction required reopening the pocket and performing a capsulectomy. The original implant was removed completely intact and unmodified despite representations that it would be customized.

While the revision improved the mechanical issues, I continue to experience persistent numbness in my lip and chin. This outcome was not what I was promised or expected, and I would not recommend this surgeon.
