Jaw implant removal and custom chin
I never write reviews, but I feel so grateful for Dr Eppley and was so impressed with his work that I am writing my first review. I've had several surgeries on my jaw over my lifetime. After high school, the local plastic surgeon placed a chin implant that I had for approx 10 year. I later went to orthodontic residency and became more knowledgeable about jaw position and facial growth and wasn't happy with my chin implant. In residency, I had maxillary jaw surgery and a sliding genio. I was very happy with the surgery, but it did not address all of the issues. I still had deficient ramps height and chin projection. Three years later, I let a friend and colleague place custom jaw angle implants on me. It was a horrible decision. If you are interested in jaw implants, please take my advice and go to a surgeon, like Dr Eppley, that performs that surgery on a regular basis. Although my surgeon had a good reputation, I should have never trusted him with this particular procedure. The outcome was very poor and I wasted TONS of money and time. Dr Eppley has written papers and has placed hundreds of facial implants. Do not trust your local, everyday plastic surgeon to place jaw implants. You need an experienced surgeon to perform this procedure!
After having a very poor outcome, I was very nervous to have anything else done. After a year of hating every picture taken of me, I drove from Nashville to Indianapolis to have a consult with Dr Eppley. I am so glad that I did. After several video consults, we decided to remove the jaw implants, place a custom chin to add a little more projection and correct the asymmetry from my genio, and perform lipo under my neck. Two months post op, my surgical outcome was exactly what we had discussed. My healing process was so much easier than my previous surgery, and I had a fraction of the swelling and no bruising.
I hope this post helps other people avoid costly surgeries with inexperienced surgeons. Dr Eppley's knowledge and experience with facial implants shows with his work. He is one of the best and appreciate him so very much for finally giving me the results that I've wanted.
