Thrilled with Chin Augmentation and Buccal Fat Removal Results

Dr. Rahban performed a chin augmentation for me late December and I cannot be more thrilled with the results. As a child and then a young adult, I was always self conscious with my facial appearance because my chin was extremely severely receded and my cheeks were visibly chubby, despite me being 5’3 and 104 lbs. My side profile was objectively extremely unflattering and for as long as I could possibly remember, I was very displeased with how I appeared in photos. I begin to research about chin augmentation as I personally wanted a permanent solution so filler was not an option for me. In my teens, I researched for possible surgeons in the United States. Chin augmentation is supposedly a common surgery, but from my experience I did not hear about it as often as other cosmetic surgical procedures which made it difficult to learn about.

Out of all the surgeons I looked up, I decided on Dr. Rahban ever since I was in high school because I liked his approach the most about chin augmentation. He had reviews from many satisfied patients about the procedure, a podcast episode on the procedure, and the before and after photographs on his website were absolutely stunning.

Five years later, I am no longer a teenager but a young adult in my early twenties so I decided to see him for real. Since I was living in another state at the time, I opted for a virtual consultation and Shyla, one of his assistants, was very helpful in setting it up for me.

When we met, he was very attentive to my concerns about the procedure and explained that he has different sizes of sterile chin implants on the day of the surgery and will only choose the one that fit my face and addressed my recessed chin the best, as opposed to other surgeons who only have one size implant in the operating room that they made an educated guess on. He also explained that he can do a buccal fat pad removal to address my unusually full cheeks.

My goals for the procedure was not to turn into Kendall Jenner, but to have a slimmer, more defined facial structure and an aesthetically pleasing side profile and I was confident after my consultation that Dr. Rahban could help me achieve those things. I was glad that my concerns about my facial appearance were being addressed and booked the surgery date in late December.

On the day of the surgery, I was not nervous at all to be frank. I knew that I was in good hands and this was something that I had always wanted to do so there was nothing to be scared about. That morning of the surgery, I was greeted by a friendly nurse who explained to me the different medications (I already received the instructions for these medications about a week prior but he just wanted to run through it again which I really appreciate) and the anesthesiologist, who was extremely kind and made sure I was at ease. I remember discussing books with her, and then I woke up! It was all a breeze.

The pain when I woke up was very manageable. I took only two pain pills the first day, the first in the afternoon and the second one in the evening. The next day I only took one and that was it. The first week I was instructed to keep the facial bandages on, which means that I was not permitted to shower or wash my face. For the first week, I just took careful baths and used dry shampoo and non-alcoholic facial wipes.

I knew from reading other RealSelf reviews that when it was time for the bandages to come off, I will look extremely swollen and that I should keep in mind that this was not the final result. When my bandage came off, it was very swollen and because of that, it made my facial appearance a tad bit masculine looking. However, I wasn’t worried because that was what I was expecting from other testimonials. In fact, I was pleased with my experience because I knew that once the swelling went down I would have the face that I imagined that I would have. My face was already slimmer and my cheekbones were aesthetically prominent in the way that I had wished for. Most importantly, my side profile because of the chin implant was drastically improved. Dr. Rahban told me to wait approximately 12 weeks to see the final result and to be patient with the healing process.

It has been about six weeks and I recently met with Dr. Rahban for a post-operative visit. The swelling has drastically gone down and my face is back to its feminine self, but much more balanced and aesthetically defined. My side profile has magnificently improved and is more balanced due to the chin augmentation and my cheekbones are aesthetically visible because the residual swelling from the buccal fat removal has almost all gone away. During the recovery period, I made all attempts to not laugh or smile because I feared that it could damage the implant. During my post operative visit Dr. Rahban explained to me that it was actually very preferable and highly encouraged for me to smile and laugh as normal because it would allow for the chin implant for heal better. He also explained to me that I was still swollen and that it will still take some time for all of the swelling from the chin augmentation to be completely gone.

I could not be more ecstatic with the results of my chin augmentation and buccal fat removal because while my face looks a lot better in photographs, no one could tell that I had work done. My friends who have recently met up with me (who don’t know that I had the procedure done) just tell me that I look more attractive. I still look like me, but enhanced and more physically attractive, which were the results that I had been hoping for. I actually reactivated my social media accounts because I am finally not shy about taking photos anymore! It’s very nice to wake up and be happy about the way I look, and I owe all of my thanks to my familial support in getting this done, Dr. Rahban for his surgical expertise, and his wonderful surgical team at his office and at the surgical center.

Dr. Rahban demonstrates extreme passion in his craft and his dedication to educating his patients and providing them with realistic and favorable results does not go unnoticed. If it ever comes time for my wedding day and I finally decide to get a breast augmentation, Dr. Rahban is definitely the person that I would go to!
