Provider Review
When i first met Dr. Shah, things went great. I didnt have to wait long to been seen and when we did meet he went over everything with me. He made sure we were on the same page about how I wanted my nose to look. He showed me pictures of rhinoplasty but had a limited number of african american rhinoplasties he could show me. He also used photoshop to show me a rough image of what I would look like at the end. I left with no questions and confident in my decision to have Dr. Shah preform my rhinoplasty. The week of the surgery I received a lot of emails and a few phone calls to make sure i knew what medicine i would need to buy post op and what i needed to stop taking pre op i found this very helpful. The day of surgery came i was preped and then Dr. Shah came to see me. He made some marks on my nose and went over everything one last time to make sure we were on the same page. The surgery took longer than expected but they said everything went good. The next few days following the procedure were very painful my while face was swollen, but Dr. Shah did warn me about the swelling. A long week later i got the cast off. When i got it off i was shocked it looked nothing like a nose. Just a big blob on my face (because of the swelling) but again, Dr. Shah had already warned me about the amount of swelling and that it could take up to a year to look normal. I got a shot of something into my nose that was to help with the swelling then i was sent home. When i went back for a month follow up I felt much better but things were still pretty swollen and not looking how i imagined. I specifically remember I hated how my smile looked. everything looked stiff and i couldnt see my top row of teeth when i smiled. I was sad about that because i loved my smile. But again, i knew about the swelling, and the staff said my swelling looked pretty good for only a month out so i was happy. I cant remember which visit it was, but we did end up using a lazer treatment on the scars around my nose and the scar behind my ear where they took cartilage from. Its uncomfortable but he did it as quickly as possible. i got another shot in my nose for swelling and went home. I still wasnt in love with the nose and it was weird looking in the mirror. My nose looked different everyday for a few months, and it looked especially bad in pictures ( again, they warned me about this , they said it would take at least 3 months to start to like it and look good in pics) My 3 months i still didnt love it. The scars were still pretty obvious, and my smile still wasnt the same. The only thing i really liked was my profile. 4-5 months out was when things got better for me. I still wasnt in love, but i stared feeling more comfortable with it. i was taking more pictures and liking them. I am now 7 months out and i still think there is some swelling and things arent perfect especially in pictures but i do love my nose and i am glad i did it. I have been away at school so i havent been able to go see Dr. Shah , but he was supposed to skype me for a follow up. I had the date and time set and was ready to go but i never received the call. So i called them on the phone to see if they would like the reschedule. they said yes, so we did but again, I never received a skype call. This is the only problem ive had with them. Im excited to hit my year mark so i can see the final product.
