WORTH IT$10,000
The blood transfusion took 13 hours on the 7th day after surgery, but it was worth it. My hemoglobin was 7.2 before and I was dizzy, faint and couldn't think coherently. I got two units and my hemoglobin rose to 10.1 which is much closer to the normal range. Normally the body can only increase one point a week. I'm taking iron, frolic acid and eating spinach every day too. I feel so much better although now I'm impatient for the surgery site to heal faster. Standing straight is very difficult. Yesterday my thighs and hips developed an itchy red rash. I finished my antibiotics 5 days ago so I don't think it is a reaction to those. I'm taking Benadryl and that is helping.

Well, I'm back in the hospital for a blood transfusion due to low hemoglobin. I'm not looking forward to it, but know that it will help me feel better.

Well, I'm seven days out. It has been a rough week. I'm glad about the preparations I made beforehand thanks to all the information posted by others on this site. I rented a lift chair/recliner and it has been wonderful. Also, the walker, shower chair and toilet seat lift have been great. I've been blessed with amazing girlfriends to take care of me and husband to take care of my kids. I'm done with the antibiotics and stopped taking the anti-nausea medication today so I'm not so dizzy. I'm still taking pain meds, iron, Colace, senecot and Advil. I'm feeling better everyday.
