Always felt like I was in good hands! I love my profile and how my nose fits my face . He did an amazing job. My recovery was a breeze no pain meds no nausea no discomfort .
I was just excited to see the results , the only painful part was the stiches and cast removal, He couldn't had done a better job !

You are definatly in good hands he is amazing ! Nothing to what I read in the Internet about rhinoplasty came close to what I felt , I was seriously in no pain or discomfort just a little stuffy but I could breath fine . Def worth a consultation , goodluck

How was the actual surgery? I'm really afraid of the anesthesia part and don't want to be fully sedated.

It was a bliss! painless I was in and out, I was on twilight sedation// I was breathing on my own, I had no pain afterwards, didn't take no kind of medications post op. I had consults with other surgeons who did only general, but like you I was afraid of being fully sedated., but my surgeon does twilight , in my case.

okay, good to know and who did you go to?

DR.thomas Mustoe his in downtown Chicago on Michigan Ave

Did you have to be under full general anesthesia with the breathing tube? Also did he show you projected images of what it would look like after and did he take the time to really listen? I'm worried because some of these reviews say their nose collapsed and that they can't breathe properly...I'm just looking to have the bump removed on my nose so that is it straight.

I think I had a tube but just in my mouth nothing that went down my esophagus or of that kind just to help me breath. He didn’t show me before and after of my pictures because he said he doesn’t show what it could look like because he won’t know what he can do until he opens your nose and sees what he can work with, my consultation was over an hour long no rushing he explained it all and was very detailed he showed me before and after pictures of different people and his work was amazing he showed me some similar to my nose with their after pictures, my nose is perfect with no problems of it collapsing or trouble breathing. He removed a dorsal bump and lifted my tip, I’m going into 2 years and never had an issue.
He def makes your nose look better but natural nothing “dramatically over done” doesn’t hurt to book a consultation , I had a consult with another surgeon prior to him and After I read his reviews there was more shadiness than good ones, plus dr. Mustoe was chief at plastic at northwestern for 20years prior to opening his own clinic, that was one of my huge plus to close him

I have a dorsal hump too and really just want a straight nose but not one that doesn't fit my face or look completely different. That's good that you've gone 2 years without any problems! How many did you consult with before you decided on him? And what hospital did do the surgery at?

I went to just one , but I work for northwestern so I knew the kind of surgeon Dr.Mustoe is, much more that he was chief of plastics. Without a doubt he was it. It was actually at an outpatient surgical center , it’s downtown as well, I was in and out within hours I think I got there by 8ish am and was on my way home by 1/2ish pm. It was super fast before I knew it I was already home recovering . It was the most simple thing to do, painless too. If you had a wisdom removed that hurts x100 more . And my wisdoms were painless too . Overall I don’t even need medication at all.
March 26, 2018
Is it near Northwestern? The anesthesiologist is there too right obviously haha and how long was the procedure?
March 26, 2018
I've never heard of a painless nose job so that would be amazing!

YES everything is around Michigan Ave. I think the doctor has his own staff team like nurses and anesthesilogist that work with him. I never felt worry that I wasn’t going to like the results or unsafe under his hands. The procedure was like 90mins , I’m not kidding it was the most painless thing I’ve ever done it’s all about how the surgeon does his techniques while performing the surgery. If I needed to I would do it again
March 26, 2018
What pictures did you bring with to show him? Also it looks like you were pretty bruised afterwards, I assume you had stitches and packing?
User Avatar
March 26, 2018
I just looked on insta from people whose their nose I like , so I brought him different kinds- I was bruised but bruising comes with any kind of trauma.he fracture my bone / the dorsal- by my eyes so that’s where the bruising came from I Had the cast and stiches no packing , the only painful thing of it all was the removal of the cast not the stitches.
March 26, 2018
How long did you have the stitches in for?
March 27, 2018
Also like how did it look like the pictures you showed when it was done or did he tell you when something wouldn't fit your face
User Avatar
March 27, 2018
He said what I brought him was something he could try to make, he can’t make everything if your nose doesn’t have what he needs to create the nose, but he will create a nose that would fit your face , mines fit perfectly Ian proportion to my face , I have the stitches for a week so I was dying to see the nose I felt in love instantly

Do you live downtown?? We should meet up sometime, I work in the West Loop!
March 27, 2018
Did you have any nausea or anything after the surgery? and how was it to be breathe, like do you have to breathe out of your mouth
March 27, 2018
Sorry for all the comments LOL but I just saw he also have a young doctor in his practice, what made you pick him over the other one?
User Avatar

I work at nortwestern hospital, so I’m up downtown everyday, I did not have nausea at all but the nurse pushed meds thru the iv before I left to make sure I didn’t get the nausea , I did have to breath thru my mouth because I felt stuffy like when you have a “cold” but not a bad one , the young one just joined him recently I’ve never meet the one who works with him now, when I went in for the consult dr.mustoe was the only physician in that practice
March 27, 2018
Are you a nurse at Northwestern? I work in Ogilvie, I'd love to meet up and talk about this more and see how your nose looks in person (if that's not super weird haha) but yeah now I'm conflicted between Mustoe and the young guy
