Breast Implant Removal with Breast Lift - Chicago, IL

I was motivated to remove my breast implants after a very bad fall caused a rupture. I chose to remove the implants and have a breast lift rather than remove and replace the implants. The reason I made this choice was because I am over 60 years old now and did not want to risk having new implants rupture and have to return for additional surgery 10 or 20 years in the future. Also, there was a downside to having implants and I was looking forward to being small again. My implants became hard and at times uncomfortable. Mammograms were very unpleasant since I did not have much of my own tissue surrounding them. I was looking forward to being able to sleep on my stomach again. In addition, I love getting massages, but when the masseuse applied pressure to my back, my breasts would be pushed into the table, which was unpleasant. I also felt that anytime i hugged someone, they would feel my hard implants instead of getting a nice soft hug. It is over a week since my surgery and I am very happy. I think I look better than I did when I was small, before the implants.

What type of breast lift did you have? Is it painful? I worry about losing sensation to my nipples.

It is called a mastoplexy. I had the surgery almost 2 weeks ago and will be going to have the stitches out in 2 days. I am rather tender but not what I would call painful. After surgery I did have Norco for the pain but I only used one of the pills. What is bothering me now is the stiches under my breast which scratch my skin. That will be gone when I have the stiches out. I have not noticed a loss of sensitivity. In my case I am so happy to have the implants gone this was not a big concern of mine.

A little shy about posting photos but there are some on this site that you can look at. If you find a great plastic surgeon, with experience, they should be able to give you a pretty good idea of what to expect for your particular case.

Pain was not a problem. Of course there will be scars where they make incisions. I had asked whether rubbing vitamin E on the scars would help their appearance and was told there is really no evidence that helps. They did recommend a cream called "biocorneum", which has clinical evidence of flattening the scars and making them less visible. I am going to try it when the incisions are completely healed...hopefully when the stitches are removed. Apprently you put the cream on the scars 2x a day for 2 months and although it is expensive, a little is supposed to go a long way.
Wish you luck.
