Provider Review
After reviewing all the plastic surgeons in my area who do breast reduction, I selected Dr. Samir Rao after the consultation. He was very nice and explained what he can do. I was size G, and he told me that He would give me a size D. I asked him if he could remove some of the fat under the breast as well, without having an abdominoplasty. He said yes, but it will cost the same as a traditional abdominoplasty. I didn't know that he never practiced the breast reduction with upper abdominoplasty. The first surgery was not successful, with uneven breasts at different levels and the scars showing below the breasts. I accepted to have him correct it a few months later, but the second surgery was even worse. After a month or so, part of the left breast fell down to my waist, and the scars were visible instead of being under the breasts. I had a major hemorraghe a few days after the second surgery while at home alone. I barely had time to open my door and call for help before I fell unconscious. It was midnight. I woke up in the hospital with IVs and oxygen on me performed in the ambulance. The emergency doctor called Dr Rao to ask him to come or advise him on a treatment to stop the internal bleeding of the brachial artery where the tube of the drain was placed. Dr Rao told him it is normal post surgery seroma, and nothing should be done. I was in the emergency room swimming in my blood, but the nurses and doctors couldn't help me. Thank God, my neighbor called my friend who came and she was the one emptying my drains to relieve the pressure from my abdomen and chest from the blood compression. After performing a CT scan on me and locating the hematoma in my abdomen and chest, the emergency doctor called again Dr Rao with the scan results. He still refused to come or allow the doctor to treat me. He asked him to discharge me, and he will see me at my regular appointment with him in a few days. However, I couldn't even stand up, so the doctor sent me to another service in the morning. I had to go to his practice two days later, held by my friends because so weak from losing so much blood. He received the new CT scan showing a huge hematoma and the blood work from my primary doctor, and I had both drains full of dark blood. He said that it was normal. When he told me that he was very happy with the results of the second surgery when I could barely walk, with my body swollen with blood, I knew that I couldn't trust him anymore. I just had a third surgery by another surgeon who tried to correct the previous procedures. He did a great job, but It takes a few months to see the final result. Almost 2 years of my life wasted. I wouldn't have done it, had I known that it could go so bad. I know that this site is mainly to recommend doctors, but I don't want other women to go through the same ordeal I went through. I hope that Realself will publish honest negative reviews as well.
