No More Embarrassing Female Facial Hair and Ingrowns! I Have my Life Back! Chevy Chase, MD

There are countless providers of laser hair removal services for women. However, very few of them offer the services of an actual dermatologist, or even a skilled/experienced aesthetician. Dr. Porter of Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery and her staff are the oasis in the desert. Dr. Porter and her staff's attention to detail and my needs as a patient have resulted in virtually 100% hair reduction, baby smooth skin, no ingrown hairs, no new scarring, and almost completely faded old scarring. I could not be happier with the results. After investing in only 6 treatments to get rid of a what was probably a certified beard (one must have a good sense of humor to survive such shame) and just a few recommended facial cleanser and retinol products, my face now makes me proud! Tears of sorrow, seriously, have become tears of joy.

Some background: I am a woman of color (medium-dark) in my early 30s. For well over 10 years, I battled with female facial hair growth. Makeup covered the hyperpigmentation, but it did nothing to hide actual the coarse, dark hairs or the ingrown hairs that caused painful bumps and scarring. While my physicians could not find any particular medical cause, the visible "symptoms" were downright traumatizing and caused me to become a social recluse. I never wanted anyone to see my face without makeup, and touching my face was a proper violation! In my opinion, finding the right dermatologist is key when you're spending your hard earned cash and you're goal is, quite literally, to put your best face forward. You don't want someone who cannot handle a laser (dangerous in the wrong hands) and who only wants to make money off of having you return for unnecessary treatments. You also want a provider who is not going to aggressively push products on you. Chevy Chase Facial Plastic Surgery really is a great office and I am so glad that I found them. I relied on a great online review of these stealthy experts instead of a loud radio ad from nearby competitors. I am so very happy with the results and wish every woman struggling with similar embarrassing facial hair would go see Dr. Porter for help.

Did you pay $950 for all 6 treatments? Do you have any pics? Also, how did you choose Dr. Porter? Sorry for so many questions, I've been considering this for myself and I live in your area so I'm anxious to learn more about your experience!

Yes, about $950 for the 6 treatments. A consult fee is charged but it is just discounted from your first fee for treatment. The consultation is pretty comprehensive, by the way. The products I purchased were a good glycolic cleanser and a vitamin-C booster, as an alternative to a retinol based cream. And I bought those because I asked about good at home skin care products. Sorry, much more than you requested, but hope it's all helpful.

I don't have pictures to share but that's for privacy reasons.

Choosing Dr. Porter: read online reviews and really wanted to go to a doctor's office instead of a salon. Also, I wanted someone with experience in treating issues for all but especially darker skin tones.

How often did you get treatments/how long was the process? Thank you for answering!!

What kind a laser she use, it hurts, lam considerong my upper lips and chin, lam tired of shaving creams and tweezers, l want to be free like you, do you had brown spot and what ate you using to vanish then, happy for you

Hi. Sorry, you'd have to ask her about the laser. And I would imagine that products are recommended based on your particular skin type, needs and sensitivity. I only used a glycolic cleanser, a retinol product for a very short time at the beginning, and now a vitamin C cream. Sunscreen is mandatory, they will stress that and probably do so for all patients all the time.

Well, 6 treatments over about 9 months, with the last 2 treatments spaced out more than a month after the previous treatment.
