29 Years Old, Battling with a Double Chin That Aged Me by 10+ Years, Hereditary "Thanks, Dad!" - Chesterfield, MO

While growing up during my adolescent and teenage years, I struggled with the appearance of my double chin. As I transitioned in to my adulthood it became more of self esteem issue. Every time a photo would be taken of me, alone, or with other folks, no matter what the photo captured, I would always focus on the hideous appearance of my "gobbler." This is what my older brother always referred to it as while jiggling it between his two fingers. I knew this was going to be something I would have to deal with for the rest of my life because no matter how much I weighed it was always there. During my nursing school career I learned that this "lovely gem" was hereditary, "Thanks, dad!" Into my late teens and early 20s I discussed the desire to have a surgical intervention of some sort to improve the appearance frequently with family members. Although they were supportive of my burning desire to rid myself this hunk of junk, they would always tell me, "you are beautiful just the way you are." So here I am, mid 20s, about to be married and I finally take the leap of faith and schedule a liposuction procedure. However, it does not happen until after the wedding so all of my lasting wedding memories will also remind me of that extra chin I once had. During my consultation with the 1st surgeon I explained to him my wants and desires of what I wanted my chin and neck to look like. He gave me the confidence that he was going to be able to perform a successful liposuction procedure that would give me exceptional results I would be happy with. 

However, 3 months after the procedure, which cost ~$1800, I could not tell a difference, except for now I had a rippling appearance under my chin. During my follow up I expressed my concerns and he assured me that within a year things would look much better. Needless to say after a year I still was not happy and decided to not waste my time with this particular doctor anymore. Fast forward to 4 years later, I accompanied my mother to a consultation appt. with Dr. Lund regarding an upper eyelid lift procedure, and while we were there I inquired about what I could have done to improve my double chin. Dr. Lund did not hesitate to evaluate my situation and lead me in the right direction. I explained to him the procedure I had done before and how I was not happy with the results and he proceeded to explain to me what really needed to be done to achieve the best results possible. At this time I was about 7 months pregnant and was planning on breastfeeding once my daughter was born, so he said the procedure would have to be done once I was finished breast feeding. 

Unfortunately, things did not work out the way I was hoping with nursing my daughter so I was able to schedule my procedure sooner than expected. I had a healthy baby girl on Aug. 22nd, 2013 and just a little over a year later I was under the care of Dr. Lund having the procedure I had been waiting for, for a very long time. On Dec. 18th, 2014, I underwent my procedure to improve my double chin and I couldn't be happier. Dr. Lund help me understand and accept, that due to my anatomy, I will never be able to have the perfect jaw/neck line but he did provide me with results that I am 100% satisfied with! My mother had a very successful upper eyelid lift performed by Dr. Lund and a very dear friend had her breast augmentation done by Dr. Lund. All three of us are beyond happy with our results.
