As an African American women, I found whilst researching rhinoplasty that it was much more of a complicated procedure to carry out on my ethnicity due to African Americans commonly having a thick bulbous tip making it difficult to get a natural result without unfortunately being left with a nose similar to Michael Jackson. I researched for months and months and was even turned away by some well known cosmestic surgery companies due to the complexity of the would be procedure. This for me was quite disheartening. I then thought my only option was to travel to American as it seem more surgeon were slightly experience/confident at doing American American Rhinoplasty. Well that was until I happen to stumble upon Dr Tahery and doing some research on him. From start to finish everything I read and every picture I saw from his work I loved and I hadn't even met him yet.
I decided to go ahead and book a consultant with him and immediately felt at ease. He wasn't forceful, he listened, he explained and he was very honest and realistic about the potential outcome. I knew straight away that I had found the right surgeon to fix what I have always hated about my nose (i.e thick bulbous tip, big nostrils and width of my nose)
On the day of my surgery I was so excited but nervous but Dr Tahery came to see me before hand and that made me feel at ease, the procedure itself went so quick and once again Dr Tahery was there when I woke up - this shows that he cares about his patient which means a lot, especially with such life changing cosmetic surgery.
The recovery was hard at times especially if you're like me and you hate when you have a blocked nose for at the best of times but what I will say IT IS SO WORTH IT!! After 1 week I had my cast taken off and I was just in love! MY NEW NOSE! I could not believe how well it turned out and that was even with the swelling. I got the achieved look I asked for - smaller nostrils, higher tip and a slight rise on the bridge of my nose. This man is an absolute genius! I wouldn't recommended anyone else but Dr Tahery!
I am due to go back as I have a slight bump on my bridge of my nose but that is minor compared to what the outcome could have turned out to be.
