First Chemical Peel

As a SXSW attendee, I had an opportunity to sample a range of treatments at the RealSelf House of Modern Beauty. I’d never had anything more than a facial done before, and I was a bit nervous about trying injectables...so I opted for a SkinCeuticals chemical peel. I wasn’t sure what to expect, so I was grateful to the team and aesthetician for walking me through the process. I was a bit surprised by the burning sensation after the peel chemicals were swiped across my skin, but it quickly dissipated after the neutralizer was applied. And once the post-treatment moisturizer was applied, my skin felt incredibly soft and smooth. When the peeling started a couple days later, the flaky, dry patches were quite visible and unattractive, but I kept those areas well moisturized to help improve the appearance of those areas. I would schedule any future chemical peels more carefully, so that the worst of the peeling would occur on a weekend when I could stay home, out of the sun, and continuously apply moisturizer. But overall, I had a very positive experience and I’m extremely pleased with the post-treatment results...my skin looks so much healthier after the dull outer layer of skin has peeled away!

P.S. - I’ve attempted to post photos from the treatment, but I keep getting error messages. I’ll attempt to add them later.
