Hi, girls.
Sorry I haven’t been on for 6 weeks but things have not been great and I really just have been so fed up . So as you know infection came back and up until yesterday I was still on two very strong antibiotics. Wound finally healed after 7 weeks but they keep me on antibiotics for another two . Unfortunately antibiotics for 9 weeks has taken its role on my body and the side effects got so bad last week I asked if I could stop them because I felt so ill ???? joint paint muscle pain , digestive problems, dizziness and thrush ????nut was told no so literally house bound for last week on sofa . Finally saw my Pm today and we are all now waiting to see if now antibiotics are finally if infection comes back !! If it does then it means implants are infected and I will have to have them out ????. It’s loke being on a knife edge! If I’m lucky and it doesn’t come back (we should know within a week) then I will be going back to see pm in April as you will see by photos I have after all this been left with bad scaring and not very nice shaped boobs ???? so time will tell . Best wishes to you all xx

Hi peanut, thanks for continuing to update. The wound looks so much better! Hopefully the infection won’t return and you’re on the road to recovery. With all these antibiotics are you taking some kind of probiotic? They are known to be very helpful for preventing yeast infections and other complications that come with antibiotics. As your vertical scars softens up the lower poles should round out more creating a nicer shape. Otherwise a simple scar revision with the verticals down the line (after the blood source is firmly reestablished) should resolve the issue, imo. Do you plan on doing any kind of scar therapy?

Hi, thanks for reply. Yes I’ve been taking probiotics for weeks but after nine weeks of antibiotics I just think my digestive system is a mess. I was able to take an oral thrush tablet now I have stopped antibiotics so hopefully it will clear up . I’m just praying it doesn’t come back . My surgeon seems happy to do a scar revision but not for another 5 months so will have to wait and see. Not really even thought about scar therapy as the wound has not long been healed up, and my focus has been on just getting better. It’s been a very long hard 3 months and mentally and physically just totally drained. Even though about seeing doctor for antidepressants

Hi friend, I’m so sorry you’re experiencing these complications! I can only imagine how devastating this is for you. I had a complication/infection after my lower body lift that resulted in a 3 day hospital stay and another surgery... I was so scared/frustrated/mad that this was happening to me when I followed my surgeons advice to a ‘t’. Please be brave and patient with yourself. I’ll be following your journey...lots of love and happy healing

Hi peanut.. hope you are well. I was wondering if you have an update since it's been almost 4 years. I have an appointment with Mark next week so wondering if you would recommend him still. I know certain complications like infection can arise after any surgery that are out of a surgeons control so wanted to hear your opinion and progress if you would still be up for sharing? Thanks Peanut. Hope you managed to get the end result you were after poppet x

Hi Peanut, thanks for coming back to give us an update. And so sorry to hear about your wound healing issues. Do they at least have the infection under control at this time? I do know wounds in this area do take some time to heal. I had a wound in my T-zone (although not as bad), but it took quite some time (almost 8 weeks) to completely close up. Unfortunately it’s just a waiting game at this point. If you feel you’ve not receive the answers you needed regarding this issue you may want to post some pics and questions in the “ask the doctor” here. Look for the link at the top of this page. Wishing you the best.

Hi Mdlg5, thank you for reply. Yes infection is thankfully under control still on antibiotics. I have just posted a question to doctors as getting very frustrated . I really just want to see some improvement and see wound at least getting smaller I appreciate it will take time but need to feel like we are going in right direction. Thanks

Hi , I had exactly the same . Mine actually looked worse . My surgeon didn’t seem at all concerned and kept saying it would eventually heal . It has , and better than I expected to be fair considering how large the hole looked . I’m now 9mths post op and I’m about to make an appointment to discuss scar revision. The wound healed but it has left my breast a little odd in shape where the tissue has pulled in to fill in the hole :(

Hi Fiona, thanks for reply . Was your wound because off infection? Did you have to take antibiotics? Also did yours rupture. I’m just so fed up and worried

I went to my GP as my surgeon said it was fine after seeing photos but I was still concerned. She gave me antibiotics but as a precaution I think . No one confirmed it was infected. I was like you , constantly worrying . I thought I’d be a good healer and this came as a big shock to me . Things do seem to heal surprisingly well eventually though if that’s any consolation. X

Very emotional

10/13 days post opp . Well guys things not been going to great and feeling very upset. Had my dressing off on day 7 and nurse was very pleased said that all bar two little spots at t junction had healed . Told her that I had to stop wearing the surgical bra they recommended on day 5 because I thought the were to tight and uncomfortable. She said they needed to be tight ! She put just steri strips on my incisions. She said I was not allowed to shower anymore:-( Anyway day 9 I woke up with a horrible sore throat that I know I picked up from my children . My boobs still very swollen and painful but swelling had come down a bit . That night I decided I would try the surgical bra again . I had also started using arnica cream for bruises. Woke up on day 10 in a lot of discomfort with right boob and it felt so big and swollen and numb . Round my incision looked a bit red and sore. Things didn't improve and on day 11 was in a lot of discomfort and noticed the left boob down incision was red on one side too. The right breast definitely bigger and more swollen than the left . Got my husband to take me to A&E where I spent whole afternoon seeing 3 different doctors until finally they gave me antibiotics to cover me till in have my 14 day post opp tomorrow. I think inflammation is coming down a bit but rang the medical group out of hours line yesterday and nurse asked me to text some pics. She said it was difficult to tell but thought I should go to clinic on Monday not wait till Tuesday. Contacted them this morning and it's now 1 pm and I'm still waiting for them to call . Oh also under my right breast I also had a small fluid filled bubble:-( so upset and fed up. Wish I had never had them done .

Sorry you’re having so much trouble. I will say though your results look beautiful. It’s interesting how different PS have different instructions. And even in the same doctors office two different nurses may have different opinions. Some PS believe in bra compression; where as others (such as my own) don’t believe it’s a good idea. To make matters more confusing one of my own PS’s nurses told me I needed compression. And after calling back to speak directly to my PS PS told me it was OK to loosen my bra! So now whenever I have a question I always ask my PS directly. Or I send an email asking for his opinion only. Lol.

In any case I think it was a good idea that you got some other professional opinions like you did. I’m not a doctor but I’m speculating the small fluid filled bubble may possibly be a reaction to tape. Sometimes if tape is stretched when applied or if the skin swells up (after applying) it can shear the skin and create blisters. You may want to email a picture of it to your clinic; and ask the nurse to show it to your PS for his opinion. Also whenever removing tape I’ve been instructed to always use some kind of lubricant (soap water, baby oil) to ensure it does not irritate the incisions or skin. In fact when I went to my PS his office to have my Steri-Strips replaced I brought my own medical adhesive remover wipes along just in case they didn’t have any of their own. LOL. I have hope you’re feeling better soon.
