Consultation review: beware of poor communication

Beware of Poor Communication

AN976
Experienced, but beware of poor communication of services/rules:
Specifically consulted for Malar implants which I have been researching for a 5 years now, and received a quote. Due the fact that he uses a bolster method rather than screw fixation (I don’t like the risk of implants shifting) I decided to not proceed with this doctor. From looking at implant reviews and complications reported on Realself or in papers, I personally would not want to deal with bone erosion nor an unsecured implant (there are other surgeons that use screw fixation elsewhere in the US). Was able to book one appointment to dissolve filler at this office. Called the office to schedule another filler dissolver but when I showed up and mentioned I wouldn’t be proceeding with surgery, he mentioned he doesn’t do filler dissolver if I’m not planning to do surgery with him, and that the surgeon of choice should perform the filler dissolver. It’s a fair point to refuse service to a patient, but please make that clear when a patient calls asking about a specific service/procedure that you previously performed on the patient. I also had not signed any quotes or contracts indicating I was proceeding with surgery, so I’m not sure why it should be assumed I was planning on surgery specifically with this practice.
