49 Yr. with Large Breasts, Back and Neck Pain - Charlotte, NC

I have had large breasts for 35 years. They have caused me tons of neck and back pain over the years. As I have gotten older I realized that I must take charge of my health. I lost 30 lbs in my decision to get healthy which has greatly reduced my chance for heart attack, stroke and diabetes. I felt tremendously better and wanted to continue my weight loss but my large breasts did not decrease with my weight and were beginning to hinder me more from the physical exercise I wanted to do. In addition I have lived with terrible rashes under my breasts. So I talked to my primary care doctor that was monitoring my weight loss and she told me she would give me a referral if I wanted to consider a breast reduction. Big decision. Surgery takes a lot of thought and must be something that was truly needed otherwise you are just crazy to want to risk all things involved. I knew this would benefit my health and I could continue my plan of getting healthy. I first went to a plastic surgeon in Gastonia and was approved by my insurance carrier to have the procedure but was not 100% sure of the surgeon. So I went to Charlotte Plastic Surgery and met Dr. Nyame. WOW!!!! Instantly impressed and after meeting him I honestly felt he wanted what was best for me. He made that clear right away. He made me comfortable in him, his knowledge in the procedure, his ability and even told me of a benefit not offered by the other surgeon - a way to use a numbing medication given during surgery called Exparel to reduce having to use more pain medication. I was hooked. I loved the idea of having to use less drugs and getting back to work sooner. ALERT.... Best thing ever. It has been the best thing for me. I hate the way those pain meds make you feel and I was able to switch to Tylenol after 5 days. Now don't get me wrong, after almost 3 weeks out I am not at all pain free but am able to manage. I also use ice for pain management. I still have a lot of recovery but the results are AMAZING. Just the weight off my chest feels good and I am able to sit up straighter with ease. Dr Nyame is the best. He is so talented, knew exactly what he was doing and I am so happy! This is definitely a life changer for me. FYI - going through insurance has been at a higher cost and I am still in discussion on how this could cost $25k when Dr Nyame's office can do the procedure in their surgical suite for a third of this cost. I did not realize this before surgery so make sure you consider this in your decisions.
