Well ladies, I go in for a full TT with muscle repair and thigh tuck December 3rd. Goodness just a day away. I am terrified, excited, sick to my stomach, all of it mixed up. I am a single mother with 2 wonderful boys that have lots of extra needs. I have spent years caring for them, at the cost of neglecting myself. A spinal cord injury in 2006 while pregnant left me pretty messed up. Spending so much time in and out of a wheelchair, unable to move around made things worse. I had a gastric by-pass in 2005. So when the accident happened and I put nearly all the weight back on broke in pieces, I was really depressed. My baby was born with lots of challenges..but here and has the best smile ever. Through it all I managed to care for 2 boys, in a wheelchair, while my now ex walked out the door, and survived the surgeries to fix my back alone. Looking back I can't believe I got through it. So now that I have this wonderful opportunity to have a TT and Thigh Lift, why am I freaking out? Insurance, by a miracle is paying for this fully, so that is a blessing. But I am so scared.
Well, I am moving forward and going to take care of my body. I have to remind myslef of all I survived and that I can do this too. I am sure along the way I will wonder"... why the hell did I do this again?" But in 3 months as spring approaches I am going to be so glad to have done it through the winter. Oh boy......just breathe is what I keep saying. I keep wondering, did I do enough, prepare enough food, clean enough, get enough stuff picked up...but something tells me I would feel that way no matter how far out I delayed things or how much I did to prepare. So.....here I go
I hope to upload some photos before going in. Breathe...just breathe

Did you get the pain pump?

No, I didn't. But get dilaudid for pain and methadone for nerve sensitivity. They are doing the trick just fine. Thanks
How about you?

Well I suffered a complication with my thigh lift. As far as the panniculectomy is going, I am healing really well. My thigh incisions ripped open............ugh. I am allergic to aspirin and ibuprofen. Kinda frustrating to have done everything right and still facing some painful reclosure. I also have one drain infected and really painful. I will update more later when the morphine has faded. Thank you for asking. It sounds as if you are doing really well. Are you starting the results through the swelling? I can see mine and I am excited to see results with no swelling. So pumped for the day I can see the results without swelling.

just wondering how you are doing? I had a spinal fusion about 8 years ago and have terrible back, pelvic, and si issues. I chose to do this surgery in hopes that, like you, core stability will help with my chronic pain. I didn't want to fight the insurance company so I just paid for it but so far, I have felt a 40% decrease in pain. I don't know if it is because my nerves are still numb or because the brace is supporting my back or I am more focused on other pain but I am optimistic for now.

Hi,I am so thrilled you're seeing improvement. I did notice my back pain being less. I had wondered the same thing. What I can say is. My back has been less sensitive to things across it. The binder really does support as well. I am now 26 days post op. My average back pain compared to before is a bit better. Once off pain meds and numbness decreased more familiar pain returned. But I ended up not having full tummy tuck and had some less aggressive muscle repair w my panniculectomy. Even so I see enough improvement I am grateful for. My thigh recovery makes it hard to sort out my back as I am walking like Wyatt Eurp after a 4 day horse trip. I am celebrating you investment in yourself. I wish insurance could have helped. You were blessed to have the funds.
I wish you the best recovery and will be here for you anytime. I will keep you updated on the back pain.
Yeah for you

I am checking in to see how you are doing today??
But I am physically doing better than expected. I was up walking some 2 day post-op. Ate light and managed to empty and measure my 4 drains with no trouble. I also passed alot of gas and had 4 large bowel movements evening of day 2. And have been having absolutely no issues with constipation at all. I learned from all the years of narcotics from a spinal cord injury to stay ahead of medications. I made sure to have one just before heading to hospital and for the 1st 24 hours, every time I took pain meds I also took a capful of Mirlax in 4 ounces of juice every time. It worked. And although I had to move bowels 4 times in 24 hours, they never hurt and were soft. I was so glad because it seems like that is a huge issue others shared. I so didn't want that to be me. I had a c-section in 2006 and it happened then...OMG.
But now day 4 I have more strength. Can walk without the walker for short trips to kitchen. I still use it for all transitions. It is such a huge help. A grabber for the things that drop so often—like the dang remote! I just found a variety of things that have made recovery a bit better.
I really appreciate you checking on me. Where do you think I should posts pictures of my tricks that have helped me, and the drains people ask about?
Thank you for the update, it's great to hear you are doing well. You are doing fantastic actually. Go ahead and post updates and pictures to your review. You can do an many as you like and I am happy to help if needed.
Keep up the good work with your recovery.
