As a young teen, I was a size 6 but 36DD. I began working out at 14, and by the time I was in my 20's I was a small D/large C. Last summer I found myself a size 4 and barely able to fit into a C cup, and for the first time I was not only unhappy but a bit self-conscious about the "deflation" effect, and was worried that I would need a lift. I wanted to get the fullness and shape back without a lift (if possible). I had spent a lot of time doing research, and as an unmarried, single woman with no kids, I didn't want to have a lift yet if the kids were still in the future.
With silicone implants under the muscle, Dr. Kalus was not only able to bring me back to my teenage figure, they look even more beautiful than before! They look incredibly natural and after two months already feel like mine. I ended up being a 34DD. I am glad I told him I was flexible with the size of my results, I encourage others to let the right doctor be the one to make that final decision based on your body. I had originally hoped to be smaller- a full C or small D- but without a lift that wouldn't have been possible, and as frightening as being a "DD" again sounded I love my new figure. It also helps that I had a large chest through high school and college, but now I don't need two sports bras!
I am now eight weeks post-op, and have not encountered issues at this point. I have been pretty diligent with following all the doctor's orders, and as much of an exercise nut as I am, I was very cautious and listened to my body as I eased back into my normal routines. I have a high pain tolerance, so the recovery seemed quite easy for me. I did have more soreness than I expected in the two and three week mark, and once I got back to work I didn't take any pain meds so I could be very aware of any pain or soreness I was feeling. Overall, the recovery was about what I anticipated with the research I had done and the discussions I had with Dr. Kalus. I am a very active person, and last week began integrating my workouts with just below normal weights and slightly lowered intensity. So far, so good!
I think that's when it really hits home after this surgery is when you start shopping. I went swimsuit, athletic, and bra shopping last week. So exciting!
For anyone unsure or on the fence, lots of research is key, but it really comes down to knowing yourself and doing it for you, and not anyone else. I 100% made this decision without consulting others (besides doctors) and am so happy I did so. As much as I am an "inner-beauty outweighs outer-beauty" person, a little something to make you feel better about YOU makes a big impact on perspective!
Thank you, Dr. Kalus & Team!
