Cellfina Solved Problems - and Caused New Ones
Cellfina got rid of 60% of my cellulite, but made the remaining 40% appear worse and now I have to get Sculptra.
I don't feel comfortable sharing pictures, but I still want to give an honest review to help other people make their decision.
I've been suffering from cellulite since my teens, despite a healthy diet and consistent workouts. As I got older, I got more and more insecure about my cellulite. I've had a big indent on my left butt cheek that gave my bum a weird shape overall, and several little dimples on my bum and thighs. I looked into every possible procedure, and, despite a few negative reviews on here, I decided to give Cellfina a shot, because I was desperate.
The site I also go to for botox and filler offers Cellfina, so I got a consultation, took some more time to think about it and eventually decided to go through with it.
The procedure itself wasn't that painful. After receiving a local anesthetic, it felt weirdly uncomfortable at most. It took about an hour, I was taken good care of. I put on shaping garments and went home. About an hour later, as the anesthetic wore off, the pain hit. This is NOT a minimally invasive procedure!
As soon as the anesthetic had faded, the pain became nearly unbearable. I couldn't sit, neither lay down, without feeling a sharp, stinging pain in my bum, and I bled and leaked through my clothes and bedsheets onto the mattress that first night.
For a week, I could not sit. My bum looked like I had been in a bad accident, black and blue bruises all over. I had to use the toilet propped up on my hands. Putting on the shaping garments and squeezing my bum into the tight fabrics was hell. I'd been considering a BBL before but now I don't think I want one anymore.
After three weeks, the bruises started to fade and so did the uncomfortable, dull pain in my butt cheeks. My butt looked plump and smooth. No more dimples. I was more than euphoric, I thought all of my problems had been solved!
For the following two months, I didn't waste a single thought on cellulite anymore, thinking it was in my past, and that Cellfina had gotten rid of it. I didn't know I was still swollen, and that the swelling was the reason as to why it seemed as though all of my cellulite was gone.
So, when the swelling eventually faded, I noticed I'd also lost volume in my butt, and some of the dimples were back. The big indent was (is, and hopefully stays) gone, but several little dimples resurfaced, and due to discoloration in the areas where they were cut, they appeared to look worse than before.
The loss of volume in my butt cheeks, as well as the resurfaced, discolored dimples, sent me into weeks of panic and regret, thinking I had wasted my money on pain and no significant improvements, if not making it all look worse. Luckily, about five months past the procedure, my collagen had seemed to "regulate" the situation a little, and I can say I do have less cellulite than before. Sadly, the remaining dimples look worse, and I am still unsatisfied.
So I decided to get Sculptra a while ago, and since I do see obvious improvement thanks to Sculptra only two months after my first appointment, my advise to other people looking for a solution for their cellulite is to get Sculptra right away.
Cellfina might be a good solution to get rid of big indents, and it will get rid of the majority of your dimples, but some may pop up again shortly after and your skin will not be as smoothened out as you may think. Also, there might be discoloration (for me, it's a few dark spots, like moles, right were the remaining dimples are).
If this has taught me anything, it is, that you cannot get entirely rid of cellulite, but you can spend money on collagen stimulators that smoothen it out. So, I am not saying Cellfina does NOT work because I see that it does, but not as well as I hoped it would and I think less invasive methods like Sculptra could've achieved the same result right away.
