At only 7 days post op, there is no doubt that I've made a life changing decision. A 66 the evidence of age was quite visible. I had contemplated having a face and neck lift for a decade. Having vacationed in SMA several times over the last 2 years, I began to consider the possibility of plastic surgery in Mexico specifically San Miguel. I spent numerous hours online reading reviews of the local plastic surgeons and kept coming back to Dr. Koelliker. This in turn led me to Pat Marino of Facelift Mexico.
There were two specific issues that helped make the decision to proceed. One being the 3 day stay in the hospital and the other was the opportunity to transition directly from the hospital to Pat's private lovely retreat, Casa Marino and Spa. As many of you know, leaving the hospital in the US after surgery with general anesthesia borders on cruelty!
Pat Marino has over 20 years of consulting with cosmetic surgery patients. Having only a small Spanish vocabulary, using Pat Marino's Facelift Mexico to facilitate everything from transportation to an interpreter for the hospital admission process was imperative for me. I had spent a lovely week in San Miguel with my sister prior to the surgery so felt acclimated and rested. On check-in day we packed lightly and Casa Marino's driver Jorge picked us up and away we went. If you're driving from San Miguel and not the airport the drive is approximately 45 minutes. I must admit that on first glance the hospital didn't look like the Houston Medical Center, however, the check in process was efficient, the hospital immaculate and my private room also had a bed for my sister. I would have been fine alone but she insisted and having her with me for the first night settled my nerves. We laughed at TV in Spanish and had fairly decent hospital food. They brought linens for her bed and dinner as well.
Immediately upon arriving in my room, pre-op began. Dr. Koelliker visited shortly after our arrival for our first consultation in perfect English. I expressed my wishes and he concurred on most but also declined one procedure. He is extremely professional and conversation with him is very easy. He visited again in the early evening to explain what would take place in the morning. Later in the evening the Internist came for an examination and to look at the lab results. He was delightful! The operating room was full of people - Dr. Koelliker, 2 anesthesiologists and several nurses. I was soon asleep. If you have any qualms about twilight anesthesia don't. I went to sleep and then awoke. No pain, no nausea. I sent my sister back to her house in SMA and the day was spent sleeping. The care at the hospital was exemplary. I had the pleasure of having one of the sweetest and most adorable English speaking nurses. Thank you Jasmine for caring for me.
Phase two - Casa Marino. My stay here has been awesome. My room is wonderful with a small courtyard and fountain. There's TV in English and hundreds of DVD's. I've read 3 books and watched 3 movies. Breakfast and lunch are wonderful and beautifully served. They may have to drag me out of here. Pat, Greg, Fabiola and the kitchen staff are fabulous. It's almost time for me to make the flight home and back to real life. The results so far are painless and the swelling and bruising is diminishing daily. I’m very pleased so far with the results. I'll be posting pictures soon.
A note on the cost of surgery - $7500 included a $600 charge for fat injections in lips.

It's been 2 weeks and 3 days since surgery. I still have a small amount of bruising under my eyes but that's it! I'm feeling great but still being gentle with myself per Dr.'s orders!

I don't know where the $399 price came from and can't seems to edit it out. The total cost is $6900 + $1900 for the 6 night stay at Casa Marino including transportation and meals.

Dr. Koelliker is not the kind of person to ever cheat or lie and certainly not in regards to surgery. I know for a fact that my surgery as presented in my pre-surgery consultation was exactly as explained and what I expected. I am in contact with a member of the team who was present in the operating room during my surgery. I can assure you that I had a full SMAS procedure. I recently saw Dr. Koelliker for a 6 month post op visit. It was time for Botox so I took the opportunity to visit Celaya. I saw the pictures taken pre-op and what a difference!. I am still beyond happy with the results. You must remember that plastic surgery is not an exact science. Everyone will experience different results. At 67, I knew I wouldn't look like a 40 year old after surgery. As long as you are realistic, Dr. Koelliker will be able to give you beautiful results. I would do this again in a second! Good luck to you and I hope I've answered your question.
