Dr. Gregg performed an open rhinoplasty on me in 2012 to remove a large hump on my nose. I chose her because she had a great bedside manner and I felt very comfortable in her hands. I was pretty happy with my nose after the surgery but in the past year or so, I started noticing that the upper portion of my nose has flattened and has a sunken in appearance - basically a dent in the upper portion of my nose. Let me state now, that I have had absolutely no trauma to my nose!! Realizing that this dent was not there before, I went to Dr. Gregg to let her look at it and see what she thought. I expected her to be kind and to be very straightforward about the obvious dent in my nose but she chose to go the opposite route and to pretend to not see it. During the appointment she went so far as to say that me gaining weight might have changed the appearance of my nose. She then suggested fillers to be injected in the bridge of my nose to help me out. I left the appointment crying.
After that experience, I took a visit to Dr. Adam Stein in Raleigh. I told him my situation and he took a look at my nose, and said that the dent was very obvious and it occurs when the nose is not broken all the way during the rhinoplasty. Apparently it's a common mistake but not one that should be made by experienced plastic surgeons. Dr. Gregg shaved the top of my nose but left open space on the front of my nose due to not breaking my nose all the way and pushing in the sides of my nose. The dent didn't become obvious until more of the swelling continued to go down in the past year. I can't remember all of the correct terminology, but all I can say is that Dr. Stein was very surprised that Dr. Gregg did this as he said that she is a very good surgeon. I am surprised as well and also very disappointed that she was not able to be mature about the situation and recognize her mistake. I will be doing a revision rhinoplasty within the next few months with Dr. Stein and I hope that he can fix my nose. The moral of this review is to be careful with Dr. Gregg. Mistakes can happen, and she made a huge one during my surgery. But she couldn't confess to it and had no desire to fix it.

Typicall surgeon that cannot accept their failures!!! I also had the same experience with my dr. He over did my nose I had a big nose big hump wide bulbous tip, and he left me with a over scooped nose and overly thin bridge, pinched tip that has two nasty dents on each side. It is such a horribly experience. When I confronted the dr about it he told me that that's what I wanted. Can you believe it!!!! that bummed me out because I wasn't expecting him to blame me for something I Certainly didn't have control over. I trusted him and he screwed my nnose up. Even though I can breathe better, I am so uncomfterble with my new nose. I didn't wanted a change that dramatic. We had an agreement on him only shaving down a little on my hump and raising the tip so it wouldn't look droopy, but now its worst. I miss my old nose and I am so upset he had to take it that far. I am barley 4 months post op and hoping I can get a revision in the near future.

Aw how awful! Yes, I was so taken aback by Dr. Gregg's unwillingness to recognize the problem. It was almost laughable. But my revision will be in the hands of a much more skilled surgeon and in the end I hope it will look alright. Getting rid of my hump was something I had always wanted to do but it is very hard accepting the change because it's such a different look! Good luck with your possible revision and remember, give it time :)

I am so sorry this happened to you. Dr. Gregg is not a good cosmetic surgeon. I went to her requesting a mini facelift in 2015 - she convinced me to have an endotine lift instead. I later found out that No One does endotine lifts anymore because they do not work. It cost me $5000, I was swollen and had to sleep sitting up for 6 months and it completely distorted my facial features. I had to do extensive use of filler and ended up getting a lower facelift two years later. Her interest is in her trips abroad to do constructive work on very poor people with birth defects and the like - which is admirable, but she does it at the expense of her US patients. No one looking for good cosmetic surgery should go to Dr. Cynthia Gregg.

Late to seeing this comment but I completely agree with you about her conflict of interests. I will always regret choosing her to ever touch my face. So sorry that you had an awful experience with her as well.

Have you had it fixed by Dr. Stein yet? How did he do?

I did! He did an excellent job. Narrowed my nose and used an Alloderm graft for my bridge.
