I have always been very uncomfortable with my nose, especially from profile view. It was clearly too large for my face early on, but my parents insisted I'd grow into. (I did not.) After a tractor tire swing smashed by nose in elementary school, my already large nose took a new shape and I started to develop breathing issues. My seasonal allergies became a problem and get worse every year. Some days in the spring, I can hardly breathe through either nostril, but taking allergy meds have done nothing.
After years of wishing I had relief from struggling to breathe; and pining for a normal looking nose and I'm so happy to say I've finally taken the leap into plastic surgery!
Thus far, I've had 2 consultations with Drs. recommended by my uncle, who is also a plastic surgeon. So, I felt his suggestions were very honest & helpful.
The first Dr. was a board-certified plastic surgeon and didn't specialize in facial plastics. She did do rhinoplasty surgeries often, but suggested I have a rhinoplasty procedure done with her and to visit an ENT for an additional surgery (endoscopic nasal surgergy)...long story short: This was not the Dr. for me.
The consultation with Dr. #2 went so much better. My appointment was at Carolina Facial Plastics with Dr. Kulbersh in late June 2016. He is double board-certified in facial plastics as well as ENT. During my app he took his time explaining everything to both my boyfriend and I about what was achievable and how he would go about improving my nose. After taking photos, we went to the computer imaging. He showed me slight changes to my nose, but they made a significant difference. He also suggested a small chin implant to supplement my rhinoplasty. I see the implant balancingbalancing my face, but I'm still not 100% sold on it yet.
My appointment for septhorhinoplasty is scheduled bright and early on September 26, 2016. I have a 2 week pre-op. appointment with Dr. Kulbersh and will make my final decision on the chin implant then.
I'll post updates and pics as the date nears. I'm so excited to get started!
*the total est. price is for BOTH the septhorhinoplasty and chin implant.

I would not do the chin implant, I think you have a cute chin and once your nose is smaller, it'll look more balanced. Please read chin implant removal and regret blogs... I had one and removed it. Why waste the money on a chin implant anyways?
Please dont do it.

Hey there. You're making the right choice going to the ENT/plastic surgeon. I had a rhinoplasty done 8.5 years ago at Charlotte Plastic Surgery and my results weren't stellar. Decent cosmetic improvement (aka huge hump gone) but had a crooked nose drooping to one side and uneven nostrils. I'm 7 days post op from a septoplasty + rhinoplasty + bilateral turbinectomy +stenosis (repair of collapsed nostril) and went to an ENT/plastic surgeon. My results so far are fantastic and I wish I had initially seen an ENT to correct the medical issues instead of only correcting the cosmetic. (I too suffer from horrible allergies and have not been able to breathe out of my nose in years until last week!) My biggest warning is this: go easy on the painkillers if you can. I took them as prescribed, every 4 hours, for the first 3-4 days, and ended up not pooping for SEVEN DAYS. I can't express how painful this was. my stomach cramps hurt worse than my nose, and it took 3-4 days of laxatives and an enema to get things moving. Elevate your head, use cold cloths, and ibuprofen. Avoid the narcotics or minimal if possible. (Going under anesthesia also causes your bowels/intestines to slow down so you still may need stool softeners. This is gross but seriously I wish someone had warned me!) I live in Charlotte and went to Charlotte ENT.

Ps: I don't think the chin implant is totally necessary. It's going to make your recovery a lot more difficult. It will also quite drastically alter your appearance. You're getting a septo rhinoplasty but you still want to look like yourself :-) is your surgeon running your insurance? My insurance covered my septoplasty and I had to pay a bit extra for the rhino/tip revision. You probably qualify to have this covered by your health insurance with an added fee for the rhino (mine was about $2500 for the rhino and $4500 was my out of pocket portion that was run through insurance for the medical codes (I had more than just septo, I also had bilateral turbinate reduction and stenosis) .... good luck!

wow, i used to have a nose like that, nearly 30 years ago.. the procedure was not so bad if i remember, just felt sick on the way home in the car and in a bad mood for a couple days. No pain or anything substantial at all.
I didn't get a 'perfect nose' out of it, but an ok, average, everyday, not noticable one....
I wouldn't go for the chin implant personally, but that bit is for you to decide.
Good luck with it, it will be worth every penny... even if you don't end up with a 'perfect nose' .... an average one is really great too.

New surgery date set!
indigailJune 9, 2017
I ended up canceling my surgery last September due to a number of things happening in my life. I'm currently back on track and have a new surgery date set for July 17th, 2017. My pre-op visit is scheduled for July 10th.
I can't believe I'm actually going through with it. I'm so excited and nervous!
Also, I'm pretty positive I won't be getting the chin implant.
