I can't believe it's already been 9 days. I'm very happy with the way things have been going. I'm officially done with all meds. Yesterday was my last shot of lovenox and I'm not taking pain meds any longer. My underarms cleared up after putting cortisone on it for a few days. That was awful and more bothersome than my pain or incisions. I'm pretty swollen on my abdomen right now. It makes my tummy distorted in places. It has also brought out those remaining stretch marks. I was told that is temporary. They will calm down as the swelling goes down. All and all I'm thrilled. Anything I could pick about is due to swelling and I know that takes time. My only real complaint is me still hunching over a bit. But I think it's because I'm keeping my shoulders forward. I catch myself slumped like that. So I'm working on that now.

Wow! Looking fantastic!!! How are you feeling? You and that darn tape. Hopefully no more blisters.

I'm feeling good. Unbelievably so. I am sore to do things and every once in a while it burns like fire. Such as reaching up to open a blind or get something off a shelf. If I turn a certain way in bed. Those type of things. I do get tired. I don't have the stamina. Expected though. As I said, the hunching is the biggest problem now. Because I'm not standing perfectly straight, it affects my back. My lower back gets tire and achey

I guess all par for the course. In time you'll be standing straight. Thanks for sharing your journey so far. It helps me mentally try to prepare for mine ;-) I guess I gotta look out for opening blinds and reaching for something. Are you sleeping in a bed or recliner?
April 24, 2017
I slept in a recliner and it was a God send those first few nights. I started sleeping in my bed again this past Saturday. So I spent a week in the recliner

I'm so concerned bc I'm such a belly and side sleeper. I think the recliner will force me to stay on my back and maybe it'll be easier to get up on my own after a few days from the recliner? How about a walker? Did you use one? Toilet seat riser?
April 24, 2017
Yes! I am a side/stomach sleeper. I can't say Ive had blissful sleep yet. When I came home from the hospital I crawled into bed and literally was like "omg, how am I going to do this" I couldn't lay on my back. Not my side. Certainly not my stomach. That is when my boys brought the recliner up from the basement. It was a great because I could sit and sleep comfortably. I still was awake every few hours but at least I got some sleep. And yes, I was able to get up on my own in maybe 3 days. Before that I either had help or had to grit my teeth through the pain to do it myself. I did not use a walker or riser. Once I was up, I was good. If you are unsteady a walker might help. I didn't need a toilet riser either. Luckily I was squat queen before surgery. So I kept my body straight and used my legs to lower and lift myself. I could even pick something off the floor. I just didn't bend. I squatted. The recliner kind of pushes you back. So you have to bring yourself forward and then your feet down. That is what killed me. But getting up and down from a reg chair or toilet. No problem.

I guess I should say the blind I'm referring to is the one over the kitchen sink. So I was trying to reach up and over. Not a great idea at first. Or to try and reach the bowl on the top self. Nope. I let someone else help you.

I hope to update in a few days. I'm doing great but am not 100% upright yet. Can't take after pictures with me hunched over. Swollen and very tight but manageable. My only snag has been a reaction to the steri strips on my under arms. It's uncomfortable and annoying!

Why do you have incisions under your arm pits? Did they do an arm lift?
April 17, 2017
No arm lift. That is how my implants were inserted. The incision is quite small. But since my skin freaked out with having steri strips on, the area appears much larger. The rash and irritated area is quite large.
April 18, 2017
Oh man!!! That looks miserable. Keeping my fingers crossed it goes away for you really quickly!
