So Freaking Worth It!

WORTH IT$7,800
It took me a long time to discover, research, and finally commit to the idea of a fat transfer procedure; and then once I did, I chose a physician very quickly and went through with it, and I'm super happy with my result. I've attached a video testimonial about Dr. Carmona and his team, and I'm definitely open to answer any questions you have. I’ll just try to synopsize my thought process and experience for you here.
Basically, I felt grossed out by the idea of implants in my body, but I did want better breasts, and definitely more symmetrical — my right breast has always been smaller than my left. I have also always tried to lose the fat right under my butt, but no matter how lean I get, it just stays there. So fat transfer seemed like the perfect procedure for me, but I got mixed signals, trying to research it on the internet. It seems to be less common, and that concerned me because I would want a physician who’s very comfortable with fat transfer, obviously. So this idea was on the backburner for several years.
In the meantime, thanks to a friend’s encouragement, I had a really incredible experience in Mexico with dental care and braces, and this is what made me realize I could look into Mexico for cosmetic surgery as well. When I started communicating with Dr. Carmona’s patient liaison, Danny, and she sent me an array of photos of fat transfer before-and-afters that Dr. Carmona performed, I felt very encouraged that I was on the right track to get the result I was after. I sent in photos of myself and the areas I was looking to improve, and Dr. Carmona confirmed that I was a good candidate for the transfer procedure. I basically just paid the deposit and scheduled the procedure as soon as I was able, without agonizing or second-guessing myself. I was a little scared, but it just seemed like this thing where I was going to be curious about this the rest of my life unless I just gave it a shot.
The experience I had was wonderful! It was really fun to be in Cancun, obviously, and then all the logistics of my procedure were very well organized. The price Danny quoted me, $7800, included literally everything but airfare and food, and so it was really easy to budget exactly what I would need. Brief caveat there — once I finally met Dr. Carmona, the day before my procedure, he suggested an additional improvement for me, a blepharoplasty, to removed excess saggy/baggy skin in my upper eyelid area. I definitely felt I trusted him and his judgment, the moment we met, and so I agreed, and I’m so glad I did. It was $1500 and totally worth it. I also sprung for some Botox and lip filler, which he did an incredible job with. Now, in hindsight, I can definitely say Dr. Carmona is the kind of subject matter expert where you could just send some pics and say “hey, what would YOU suggest for me,” you know?
I could say so much here but I think the main points are that the Cancun vacation angle made it not only less expensive than the US but also really easy to keep the whole thing under the radar, since I don’t need everyone in my life knowing I had cosmetic surgery. Even going around out in public etc. the several days after the surgery was no big deal — Carmona’s sutures were so subtle and well done that people didn’t even notice them unless we were standing very close. The entire surgery/in-patient experience, what I remember of it, was fantastic. I felt like the queen of the hospital! Everyone was so nice and I was very well taken care of, for the more than 24 hours of my stay.
The one thing I was really worried about, maybe irrationally, was anesthesia, just because I’ve never had a surgery before and I was scared I might feel pain. The anesthesiologist Carmona works with is this really badass woman who immediately made me feel very comfortable, when she interviewed in the hospital prior to my procedure. It’s only been a week since my procedure, as I’m writing this, so I’m still definitely in recovery mode but I feel I bounced back quickly and was able to actually enjoy the rest of my stay in Cancun, to a great extent. I didn’t need anyone’s help, although the quoted price does include a nurse visiting the hotel to help with bathing and wound care. The transport logistics once I landed were handled by Danny, the patient liaison, and then subsequently by George Potilla, and it all went very smoothly.
My end result is still evolving, because there is some attrition with fat transfer procedures, up to 30-40%. I tried to gain as much weight as I could before the procedure so Dr. Carmona would have enough fat to work with, and everything seems to have worked out perfectly. He told me to expect my breasts to decrease to their final size over the next several months and I’m okay with that. It’s fun to feel as busty as I do right now, and definitely my breasts look amazing, but overall a subtle end result is what I’m looking for. My body and overall figure, after the liposculpture, look incredible, although I’m still feeling the effects! Healing from lipo sort of feels like road rash injuries, but on the inside of your skin, if that makes sense? It’s kind of intense, but the tiny access points are already healing up and are barely noticeable. Dr. Carmona made my waist more symmetrical with the lipo, which is a side benefit I wasn’t even expecting, and then true story, I got more compliments on my eyes, going around Cancun with sutures, than I’ve received before in my whole life.
Overall, I feel like I got a major beauty upgrade. I wouldn't change a thing.
