I could write pages about how wonderful my experience was with Ocean Dental, so that’s my challenge here, to write a concise account-
I had extensive bone loss, due to a California doctor that claims “to be a modern, state-of-the-art periodontal & Implant dentistry practice”. He busted my jaw bone so severely during an extraction that I was left with major bone loss, which jeopardized the teeth on each side. I sought restitution from this doctor, but he treated me very poorly, with a condescending attitude, minimizing the damage, and not claiming any responsibility to restore the bone. I was in danger of losing my canine tooth, because I no longer had bone on the outer edge, to secure the tooth in place. I returned to my referring dentist, no support from him either. Needless to say, I lost all confidence in the dentists here, not the least to mention I was now faced with the exorbitant cost of 5 teeth needing repair, (3 part bridge had been compromised in the extraction).
My wonderful care started the very moment I arrived at the Cancun airport! David was there to pick me up, took me straight to the clinic and I had my initial exam with Dr. Irma Gavaldon that same day. Because of the severity of my case, we arranged for me to have a panorex taken, and then meet the next day with Dr. Irma Gavaldon and Dr. Gabriel, the Myofascial surgeon. They spent 3 hours with me, and included me in the discussion to determine the best plan of action, how best to repair this area? I felt as if I was part of the team. I was treated with such wonderful respect that it gave me great confidence in the treatment I would receive.
The procedure went REALLY well- I had a sinus lift, bone graft in the sinus area and the inside mouth area, we used growth factor (using platelets from my blood to aid in bone health and healing), I had an extraction of one tooth of the bridge, two implants put in, and crown prep and temporary crown placed. I had hardly any pain, (a couple of Tylenol did the trick) and zero swelling. They gave me a cell phone to use during my entire stay, so I could be in touch with them at any time. One of the dissolvable stitches came loose; I was able to call Dr. Irma on a Sunday evening and she came in and fixed the stitch. There was NEVER once during my entire stay of 8 days, that I did not feel the warm, loving care from the entire team. I came to Cancun alone from California, and not once did I feel alone.
I can’t say enough about how well I was treated, how impressed I am with the team’s level of expertise, and how moved I am by the respect they showed me. Dr. Irma Gavaldon is now my dentist for life. I’m one month into my healing process, and I’m doing really well! I get to come back in November to finish the implants and my crown, and we will be drawing up a treatment plan for me to carry out over the next few years. (I’m 54 so I’m at the place where some other dental work will be coming up for renewal, haha) I’m thrilled to be part of the Ocean Dental Family.

Provider Review
Irma Gavaldon, DDS is very warm and professional at the same time. I have experience in the dental field, so I speak from a lot of experience with other dentists. She is top of the line. She does beautiful work. I saw her handy work with my own eyes, during the 8 day visit. I was in the clinic very day; I saw her work and talked with many of the patients. We all were singing her praises. I now recommend her to anyone that I hear needs dental work.
