My accutane journey.

Pain...day 16

The cystic acne on my jaw line is so painful that I have to take Advil a couple times a day. It really helps and at times I think the acne is improving and it's not that bad but then the meds wear off. There is a cluster of them about the size of a large marble. The pain really gets me down and reminds me of the acne so I'll have to keep taking the Advil for now. It makes me feel more normal.

It gets better....just keep trying to tell yourself that! Once you get through this phase and you will look great....I've been where you are now and I was so down and was going to stop the accutane but my friend told me to keep going. It was totally worth it at the end...it's been about 10 years and since I've taken it and I haven't had a single pimple anywhere since!!! Keep your chin up and keep going!
I had really bad acne when I was going through puberty. Then when I was in my 30's. All over my face, chest, back and beneath my jawline. It felt as if my skin was crawling. I went to a specialist in UK who recommended Roaccutane. It had many side effects by I was willing to take the risk. Best thing I could have done. The skin on my forearms became dry and wrinkly and my eyes were very dry. It was worth it because it got rid of the acne within months. Just go for it. Xx
Will ur body not go back to normal, after about 6 month , or so I , know when I came off some medication it too me about that.

12 days in.

I have had a pretty bad flare up on my chin and jaw line. I hope it starts to improve soon. My chest and back are improving though. I wish I could put my life on pause for a while. It hurts.

I know just how you feel!! I came off an antidepressant last spring after being on for 14 years. I was excited to come off and see how life would be without it. Sadly, sonetimes things don't go as we plan. About 5 months later I started experiencing pustules and papules as well as constant burning and stinging on my face. I was diagnosed with rosacea and the bumps just kept coming!! But I couldn't really treat them because of the facial pain. I've been to a neurologist, endocrinologist, and 3 derms! Some days I don't even want to leave my house because I feel so less than an embarrassed about my face. Now I am looking into low dose accutane for my issues. ( supposedly can help with my rosacea bumps as well as the constant burning and stinging) I've also developed allergies to practically everything!! It's terrible some days I feel like bubble boy. This has been one of the hardest things I've ever had to face but I try to keep the faith that things will get better. Thank you for your post and share because it is people like you who help to give me the faith that things will get better. You are a beautiful woman and I truly hope that accutane helps you and that you are able to experience peace and happiness again. I will continue to follow your posts. Be well!!
Thank you so much. I hope you find a resolution for your problems. I never would have dreamed acne would cause such distress in my life. I just hope that it's getting all of the bad out and nothing but good will follow. For now I just have to keep on keeping on and hope that tomorrow will be better than today. Thank you for your support. Take care
Expect improvement in 3-4 months. Before could be more outbreaks but it will clear up. I took Accutane for 5 times because of the cycts and it was the same at the beginning. First worse then getting better.
3-4 months? Ugh. I hope it's sooner than that. How much time was between treatments for you? What dose have you taken? I'm on Epuris 40 mg.
I had Accutane before and it really worked! Your face will get worse before it gets better! When I mean worse , it really gets horrible because all the hidden pimples will all come out! My face looked horrible the first two weeks , it looked and felt like sand paper! But after a month, things started to turn around! I was free of pimples and my face was very clear that looked and felt like baby skin! So please hang in there! It will be fine! But one important thing, DO NOT get pregnant while you are on that!! Baby will be abnormal! Please remember and take cautions for the birth control! Good luck!
