WORTH IT
Hard to believe I am now one month post op and feeling amazing. My new breasts are great and the relief on my back, neck and shoulders is incredible! I have dealt with these issues for years and thought there was not much I could do about them, but now the relief is immeasurable and I wish I had done the surgery sooner.
I am sleeping so much better at night now, as I can sleep on my side. Sometimes there is still a slight twinge of pain if I turn the wrong way, but overall so much better.
I have been putting Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Scar Serum on every night plus Bio Oil and the scars are really starting to go down already.
The only problem I have is trying to find a bra that does not ride up on me, lol! Maybe I am so used to my old bras that new ones do feel different on me.
I put on a dress that I wore to my niece's wedding last September and my daughter could not believe the difference on how well the dress looked now as compared to me pinning it with my large breasts to hold them in. Will be nice to wear it to another wedding in June without a pin in it!!

At Emergency department the Doctor on call took my bandages off to see if I had an infection or not as my temperature was 102. It was the first time I had a peek at my new girls and I must say I was shocked! They did not look like me at all as I was used to my old breasts, but it was nice to see them. Slight infection so Doctor put me on antibiotics for 5 days and it cleared up, and bandaged me back up again.
Went back to PS on Wednesday April 11 and he took out the 2 stitches from the draining tubes and put a small support bandage on for extra support and was told to come back in a week. Now I was able to put a sports bra on and it felt really good. No problems at all the next week just some twinges of pain in the new nipple area which PS said was normal due to the nerves coming back.
Back to see PS the following week and he took the all the steri strips off. I have to say after the tapes were off my breast looked gross, lol! Lots of dried blood was stuck to them and really red looking. Went home and had a shower for the first time in 2 1/2 weeks, boy that felt amazing!!!
Have now had my 3rd and final appointment with PS and he is really pleased with my recovery. He took out the last 2 stitches underneath the breasts and said that the scars will heal over the next 6 months or so.
I do have a couple of large folds of skin at the edges of the breasts underneath which he says is normal and will disappear over time. It is caused by the large amount of skin and fat that they removed and the stitching up of the skin.
I am very pleased with my results and continue to be amazed at the work that my PS did. Amazing job and I only wish I had done it sooner.

The day after surgery was painful - I am not going to lie. It was so uncomfortable trying to sleep on my back, plus my chest was really sore that when I tried to get up in the morning, I felt like I had a ten ton weight on my chest, thank God for my husband's help. I had a home nurse that came to my home for about a week to check on my bandages and make sure everything was going okay. She came on Tuesday for the first time to take all my vitals and also to remove, hopefully, the draining tubes. She was really nice when I told her I was really hurting. She checked the draining tube bulb and determined that they could come out as there was no blood or fluid in them. I was not looking forward to it but she said it really would not hurt that bad. That is until she started to take them out and realized they were stuck to the tape, OUCH!!!!! It was the most painful aspect of the whole procedure. After the first one was out I thought maybe she would have checked the second one, but no, it was just as bad. After she left, I went to my bed and cried for about a half hour after taking some pain med. It eased off after an hour. The rest of the day, I dozed in bed and tried to eat a little something as I really had not eaten anything from Sunday about 4 so although I felt hungry I didn't feel like eating.
On Day 3 - I still woke up with the heaviness feeling on my chest and all I wanted to do was to sleep on my side again! But not for at least another 2 weeks! I really cannot complain as I had very little pain, more like stinging - like a grazed knee or something. I was fine all week up until the Sunday - just one day short of one week when I took a fever. My home nurse had stopped coming by this point, but both her and my PS both told me that if I took a fever to get it checked out immediately as it could be sign of an infection. I took to my bed, and took Advil, hoping it would go away but by supper time, which was Easter Sunday and my daughter had made a really nice meal, I felt awful, so off to Emergency with my husband.

How are you feeling now, Jacqui? Did you have an infection? Is everything ok? What size are you now? Do you have your energy back and are you back to your normal activities?

Hi Iowa71 - I did have a slight infection and was put on antibiotics for it - fever was down the following day. I am now a C cup and cannot believe it - don't think I was ever a C cup and perky like they are now, lol! My energy level is getting back now as I am now 3 weeks post op and my 2 stitches come out tomorrow.

I am having a hard time finding a bra that feels right, but I wonder if that is just because I don't really know how one is suppose to fit if it isn't pinching and poking me. Have you been measured to see if you are getting the right band size. Maybe it is too big and that is why it is crawling up?
