So I have booked my procedure and was unsure to post my experience on realself. I decided to go ahead and share because other people's reviews have helped me soo much. So my procedure is booked for the 23rd of Feb. So I have begun my preparations for it. Today I got waxed and also have seen my local GP to let them know I am having the procedure. It has been a complaint of mine for many years I have visited my GP on many occasions. I don't really have any issues with my labia aesthetically, it's more of a discomfort thing. Long periods of sitting down or driving long distances always leaves me In agony so I bit the bullet and finally after many years I'm doing it! Going for the chop so too speak ????????.

So today was my surgery. I had a relatively long drive to get to my surgeon. Around two hours I would say. My mum dad and sister came with me to drive/keep me company.
The surgery went well. Hagen and Emma were lovely at through out the procedure I was knackered so I literally had verbal diarrhoea. Glad they put up with me. It was a weird experience for some odd reason I kept twitching which was awkward.
The local anaesthetic literally wore off as I was walking into my house. I took some ibuprofen when I got to the car initially. And took some codine when I got home. Right now I am in a little pain nothing unbearable. Bleeding a little more then I thought I would be but nothing to much. Havnt really seen much swelling at the moment. But I've literally just had a wee and jumped into bed. Will inspect and take some pictures tomorrow. [RS bleep]

hi. I have a consultation with him soon. how did you find having it done under local anaesthetic? I went to a surgeon recently who said it should always be done under a general anaesthetic. I’m not keen on being asleep as this is more risky and has a longer recovery. the change is amazing!

It was fine. Don't get me wrong it was a weird experience but not painful during the procedure. If you are awake you can say if you want more or less taken off I don't really see the need to be put asleep for it xx

Didnt you feel faint? How did they cut everything off ? With scalpal ? Laser? I literally faint even thinking about being awake :/

1 day post
As promised a some updates. Post op day 1
Finallyfixed1234February 24, 2018
So last night was awful pain wise. I didn't have access to my ice packs (our fridge freezer decided to pack in a few days before my op) so I got a relative who lives close by to freeze some ice packs for me but had to wait till morning to get them) I was really paranoid that I would overdose on pain killers- last night I took codine tramadol paracetamol. So I decided today that I would stay off the heavy stuff and just take 1 paracetamol or 1 ibuprofen every 4-5 hours. I rang my surgeon to double check I was ok to have a shower. So I had a shower put some ointment on and now I am in bed leaving the wounds uncovered so they can heal better. I can see some of the stitch material. Not sure if that's a sign of wound separation or just a little bit hanging out? Again in some pain going to start with the ice pack today to see if that helps with the pain. I'll keep you guys updated.

How was the drive back? Do you have to go back any time soon for Hagen to check, I’ve booked in my consultation but will also have a two hour journey so just worried about that x

The drive back was fine hun. The anaesthetic was wearing off but Hagen told me to take some pain killers to tide me over if it wore off quicker.
I had my consultation over the phone and.only had to go see him once on my operation day. You can go back for a follow up but that's completely up to you xx

Oh that’s good to know I’m having my consultation in London as that’s quicker and easier to get to :) hope you heal well and have a speedy recovery xx

- smooth pantyliners that won't cause irritation like a regular pad
- Prednisone or prednisolone type steroid to reduce the extreme swelling/inflammation
- Spray bottle of wound cleanser from amazon for bathroom trips
Best of luck! I'm in pain currently, but don't regret this long overdue decision
