13 weeks post op

13 weeks post op and I’m still dealing with hardness from swelling, and discoloration in my skin. I have much more definition in my calves, but unfortunately my right leg had more fat removed than my left. It’s measuring about 1/2” smaller around the calf. Which is pretty significant, considering it’s only about a 13” circumference. All in all, I’m happier with my legs beforehand. But plan for a long, slow recovery. And keep in mind that your legs are mirror images of each other. So any differences the doctor creates, will be obvious to you because you will be comparing one leg to the other. I wish both of my legs had turned out like my left. Oh well.

I struggled to find good reviews for this procedure since it isn’t very common. So I hope this helps someone else. Despite aggressive working out 5 days a week, I have never been able to reduce the fat I hold in my lower legs. For reference I am 5’6” 130lbs 39 years old. I’m currently exactly 2 weeks post op. Being transparent, this procedure has been way harder on me than I expected. I thought I would be able to do light exercise one week post op, and be back at the gym 2 weeks post op. Maybe that’s the case for some people, but definitely not me. The procedure itself was very uncomfortable for me, although I did opt to avoid narcotics so was not on any pain meds beforehand. I only took 2 ibuprofen at a time for a few days afterwards. I was not prepared for the discomfort. I have had a tummy tuck, and the first 2 weeks of this, have been harder on my than the first two weeks of that. The intense burning when I would stand would sometimes require me to just brace myself and bear it until it slowly went away. Any amount of touching my legs was very painful. Putting on the compression garment, was very uncomfortable for at least the first week. 2 weeks post op and my legs are not sensitive to touch anymore, but they are still sore with pressure or squeezing. I still get some burning when I stand up, but it’s considerably better. I currently have pretty intense swelling around my knees and ankles, to the point that I cannot bend my knees very far. It’s very hard feeling! Not squishy, like you might expect swelling to be. My right leg and right ankle has much more swelling than the left. Another thing that surprised me was how yellow my legs turned. They looked jaundice. I know my knees still look so puffy. I asked my doctor about this and he said I have very unusual knees (yes I know), and that they found I had a lot of connective tissue aside from the fat pockets. So I don’t expect my knees to be as cute as I was hoping. Despite that, I can already start to see better definition in my left leg, than pre surgery. My ankles are thinner and my calves are more defined. Which is encouraging, considering I still have a lot of swelling. I know it will keep getting better with time.
As far as Dr Kerr, he was very kind, and thorough. I do believe he did a wonderful job. He is retiring, so I’m thankful I was able to do this before he hung up his hat.
The videos are 2 and 5 days post op.
I will do my best to update as I continue to heal.
