6 month update

I passed the 6 month mark since my surgery earlier this month. Im definitely still healing a lot, but I think this will go on for a year or longer even. My calves and ankles still feel very tingly and weird and I still can’t wear socks or pants with elastic on my calves or ankles without it leaving a scary, deep red indent that lasts for awhile. Massaging my legs at night helps with the tingling feeling. The scars have faded quite a bit but are still red and kinda noticeable, but I’m hoping they keep fading. Overall I’m so happy with the results and I love how my legs are shaped now. It feels like my new leg shape is permanent and it feels so good !

3 months Post update!

Wow I can’t believe it’s already been three months since my surgery. I love my legs more and more everyday and I’m so happy and grateful that I was able to do this. The scars are still really visible which bothers me a lot, but I’m looking into doing some kind of prp or laser treatment to help speed the process. My legs still have a really strange tingly feeling, mostly in the lower calves and ankles. They still don’t feel healed, but they look so good. After my two-month update I tried to do my virtual bootcamp workout class. I was shocked by how weak my legs had become, and it was almost unbearable to do a lot of the moves. After the class my swelling came back full force and I was beyond sore for over a week . But since then, trying to stay more active has actually helped with the swelling. I’ve been massaging my ankles at night and been shocked by how much it helps relieve the swelling. I still can’t bend my knees all the way without it hurting. I forgot to mention in my earlier posts but, during the healing process for this, I’ve been unable to wear tight pants / any kind of sock that gets close to my ankle. The skin/ tissue is soo soft that any kind of elastic, even loose elastic, creates a really painful indent that takes a few days to go away. The first time it happened, I had fallen asleep with my compression garment accidentally bunched up in one area. That area is STILL kind of lumpy. I highly recommend buying diabetic socks that have no elastic and just wearing loose pants for the first few months. I still can’t wear regular socks. anyway I’m soooo happy with the results and can’t wait for these scars to fade and to regain all the feeling in my legs again. As always please feel free to message me if you have any questions:)

2 Month Update!

It’s two days until my 2 month mark post surgery. Soooo much has changed since the one-month point. I got excited to write this update because *just* in the last few days the swelling I’ve been experiencing throughout the day had been almost completely gone! I have almost full feeling back in my legs!!!!!! It’s still pretty tingly in the lower calf and ankle area and I’m assuming it will take well over three months for that to fully heal. I can finally bend my ankles and knees all the way without too much pain so I’m finally going to start my boot camp workout classes again and I can’t wait!! The best part of all....IM IN LOVE WITH MY LEGS NOW !!!!!!!!! The past two months of recovery have definitely been rough, physically and emotionally. It’s been really hard going through the healing process and feeling like the change wasn’t significant for all of this pain and everything. BUT, now that my legs are more healed I am truly amazed at how much of a difference this has made. It feels like this massive change in the healing process just took place this week lol. I don’t know what to say besides, wow, I’m so happy I did this. It was an extremely expensive, painful, and borderline traumatizing surgery and healing process but now it all feels 100% worth it. I am a bit frustrated with how slow the healing of the incision scars is going, but I know with patience and staying on top of scar care that they will definitely fade over time. The scars are the one thing keeping me from feeling super confident right now but HOLY COW my legs feel so good I’m so happy I did this! THANK YOU DR SU AND NURSE RAECHELLE
