How it works
- Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
- This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
- Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
- Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.
If you have questions or believe we should re-evaluate a published review, let us know.

I’ve done it! They’re out :) So far I am very happy with my results.
I know it’s early days but I just wanted to post these pics before I do a full on review. So far they look so natural. Professor Ahmet Surgeon. Price $7,100 USD.
Dr Juan Diego Mejia - Butt Implants, Male
I wasn’t going to write a review but I feel that it is important that people can view this and make sound decisions- remembering that we all have different outcomes. June 2018 I flew all the way over from Australia to Medellin, Colombia to meet Dr Juan Diego Mejia and have him perform liposuction and butt implants.
I have to say that Dr Mejia is a very kind Doctor who was an absolute delight to meet. I don’t remember the lady at receptions name as there was a language barrier, but she was simply lovely (inside/out). I had Ivan as my translator and he certainly did a wonderful job too.
Medellin is stunning. The climate – I loved! Didn’t speak a lick of Spanish so it was challenging on that front but I weathered it okay with google translate etc + Ivan.
I stayed in Medellin for almost a month to allow for maximum recovery – as I read that Butt implants have a lot of down time and during that time my recovery went really well. Dr Juan said that I most likely won’t have any problems with my implants on my last visit to his office.
Just a side note: For my consult I was asked if I wanted more of a hip and I said no- i want more of a sporty shape but still masculine. He measured me and told me I was a perfect candidate for the 430cc implants.
I want to say that regardless of my outcome – Dr Mejia did do his job. The scar healed up well. My liposuction -I love - and everything went very smooth. But now that I am home and have healed a lot – I’ve noticed that the implants aren’t what I expected them to be.
For starters:
If you lay down on your back- don’t expect to be able to simply roll up the normal way by sitting up. That feels absolutely gross if you try and you will experience discomfort.
Couch potato days in front of Netflix – if you’re sitting and leaning back- expect to adjust your position a lot. I find I get numb in the buttocks/feet if I sit a certain way for too long.
Lying in bed you will feel like you have two water balloon wallets in your back pockets. I always used to sleep on my back before the operation but can safely say that I am now officially a side sleeper.
I avoided workouts for 5 months to allow for healing. I did very light stretching though and of course had to work so I was always on the go moving around.
Standing up. They look great. Very natural- great shape etc. But as soon as you bend over or crouch down or go to sit…that’s when you really notice them.
I read that sometimes butt implants drop a little – and I guess I always expected these to settle in more and feel like another body part to me – but they don’t. I have pectoral implants and although I find them to be a bit hard – they don’t feel foreign in my body – whereas these implants do.
I’m of course, gutted. How I’m looking at this is like you can do everything right and heal beautifully but still get something that wasn’t what you wanted…or I guess what you paid for.
I’m currently looking at having them removed and replaced by another doctor. I’ve read that Dr Stanton is amazing with natural results but I’ve head that the cost can be quite steep.

Provider Review
Dr Juan was very likeable and seemed to be very good at his job. I still think he does great nose jobs. But in my case - I don't think he was the right doctor for me. It's an expensive lesson- but so are many other things in life.
