Two years ago I started researching lipo. I'm not a huge fan of the big booty look but do think I could use some help in getting a rounder rear. After extensive research (includes visiting Dr. Salama in Miami and Dr. Balgobin in Minnesota; following physicians and "dolls" on social media; talking to friends who have gone through BBLs), I think I'm going with Dr. Balgobin ("Drbbl" on Instagram). Here's why: his approach to patient care.
I'm someone who needs to speak to these physicians eye-to-eye. I did a virtual consult with Dr. Salama's office but still flew to Miami so I could lay eyes on the man who may alter my look. I do not like how his office does the virtual consults - like others, you send your pics, but a patient coordinator contacts you to tell you what Dr. Salama allegedly said about pictures and requested procedure. It was complete bull! A friend and I both did virtual and the patient coordinator (Nancy) told us THE EXACT SAME THING, like word-for-word. My in-person consult (at the time it was free; now, I understand Salama is charging $50) did allow me to see the man, but our discussion was no more than 10 minutes. He looked, commented and sent me out to Nancy so she could sell me on getting the work done.
Dr. Balgobin's approach was completely different. First, there is no consultation fee. I have no real issue with doctors who do charge for a consult, but if the patient is flying in to meet with you, waiving the fee would be pretty awesome. But, no matter, Dr. B doesn't charge. Second, his personality is EVERYTHING. He really comes across as humble and genuine. He expresses ZERO arrogance. He took me into a small room - more like a den (not an exam room) and we sat and chatted for no less than 45 minutes. It was so chill. He listened to everything I said; asked me a lot of good questions - things about ME, making me feel like I was the only patient he cared about...I even asked if spending this amount of time w/ a patient is his normal thing and he said, yes! We then headed over to an exam room. He looked and gave me immediate feedback on whether or not my wants were realistic (they are). We headed back to the den and he provided me with the proposal. Honestly, his work coupled with that awesome personality were enough to seal the deal. I am far from an impulse buyer so told him I wld call back on Monday to schedule.
Out in the lobby, while I waited on my Uber driver, I started chatting - and really bonded - with his coordinator (who is also his sister!). I really thought we could be friends out in the streets, lol. She was super cool, very VERY friendly/approachable.
I'm super excited about this journey and will post pics and updates as things move along.
