Lip Augmentation W/ Juvederm Ultra Plus

I've always been self conscious about my lips...
$485
I've always been self conscious about my lips because of how small/thin they are. My top lip is dramatically smaller than my bottom, and practically disappears whenever I smile. And in this day and age where big luscious lips are desired, it only made my insecurity about my lips, increase.
That's when I decided to try lip fillers! A friend of mine had went to Flawless Laser Center in Burbank, California, and her lips looked amazing. I had to give it a try. So I called and scheduled my appt for 12/29/2015 for Lip Augmentation using Juvederm.
I arrived at my appt 20 mins prior so I could use their numbing cream. I was super anxious so knowing pain would be minimal was crucial. And the numbing cream surprisingly did numb my lips pretty well. Fast forward 20 mins, it's my appt time and I'm taken into a room, where a nurse looked at my lips and asked what I'm looking for. I told her about my top lip disappearing act, and how I'd like my Cupid's bow to be a little more pronounced and defined. I also told her I loved the "pouty" lip-look. She then asked what kind of Juvederm I'd like injected. My options were between Juvederm Ultra OR Ultra Plus. She explained that Ultra lasted 6 months, and Ultra Plus lasted a year. And the price different was only $15, so obviously I went with Ultra Plus!
She began injected and boy did that first poke hurt! My eyes started to water. But by the second poke and so on, the pain went away, and her injected wasn't an issue. I ended up getting 1 syringe which is pretty normal, even though I think I might had needed two because my lips are so thin. Anywho, the majority of the Juvederm went into my top lip, and then just a little bit on the sides of my bottom lip, and then right in the middle to give me a little "pout". She massaged my lips afterwards and sent me on my way. That was it! A
About an hour later my lips started swelling, and the bruising began. But ice worked wonders. Also, I should mention, my lips were extremely stiff about 4-5 days in, so smiling was hard but not impossible. I think myself and my husband only noticed that I couldn't smile all the way on New Years Eve! And as for the bruising, I just used some concealer and lip stick and I was good to go.
Fast forward 5 months in, my lips have reduced in size by a ton! My lips looked back to the way they were before I got Juvederm, and I was extremely disappointed, as I was told it would last 1 year! And it only lasted about 5 months. I never went back to get more because I just couldn't see myself spending another $485, for something that lasted such a short amount of time.
Now it's officially been a year since I got Juvederm, and about 99% of it is gone. I can tell my Cupid's bow is more defined then it was before getting the injections, but otherwise my lips are back to the way they were. That's why I've decided to go a more permanent solution, and try Permalip with a board certified plastic surgeon that actually knows what he's doing! Stay tuned for that review ????
